If any of you don't think that Nathan Eagleton has turned the corner this year than sadly you are all mistaken.

If you can not see this, than the most likey explaination is that you have been abducted by aliens and they have removed your brain.

He is doing everything that you have critised him for this year. His second efforts have been fantastic, and his tackling and intensity is brilliant.

If Eagleton was a product of a Clayton draft pick then you would all be singing his praises looking at his arse and getting generally excited about him.

However this is not the case because too many of you can't let go about what we traded for him. Too many of you can't open your eyes and mind to what a great asset to this club Eagleton is.

Nathan Eagleton is a brilliant young man (yes, he's still young) and will do some amazing things this year.

Get of his damn back and watch him play.

His 1 on 1 skills are poor, and I reckon you cant carry too many of those types in a team or you start to look like Richmond. I seriously dont think there is room for Alvey and Eagleton on the same footy field.

However...

He looks a lot more interested in addressing his faults than Alvey this season, and although it pains me to say it, if we havent got the players to get rid of both of them, Im starting to lean towards getting rid of Alvey.

i have only seen him at geelong, and i was impressed. He did stuff up, quite a bit, but he tried. And that's soooo much better than the previous years!

It is well beyond that. 3 years ago it was time to move on, now it is it is just stupidly embarrassing for those who continue to think of eagleton in terms of the performance of Powell and Montgomery.

I've not really seen him this year, so I'm continuing to think of Eagleton in terms of the performance of vintage 2002 Eagleton.

You mean the poor guy coming off a decent year where he lead the clubs inside 50's that was struck down by injury and missed most of the pre season? Going on to suffer niggling injuries thoughout the season, he was finally able to find some form for werribbee only to be played out of position when coming into the senior side.

I wonder if Jordan McMahon's season ends up looking like this if he will be judged as harshly as eagle last year. Actually i don't wonder, i know he won't be, but i guess thats ok, cos we didn't lose any players to get him, and this automatically makes you a better player. Other factors that make Eagleton a worse player are that he is not a hack that gets by on determination alone, and he is not very good looking.

It is pretty obvious that the only things most people let stay in their memories about eagleton are the ones that confirm their existing beliefs about him. I guess that works well for most people, cos that way you will never see that you are wrong.

I don't have Foxtel.

I don't live in Geelong, Nuriootpa, Ballarat or Footscray.

I don't put much store about what happens in practice games.

So as I said in my post, "I've not really seen him this year"

When I finally see him play, I really hope that he has improved. Until then, the jury is out for me.

Simple logic, not blind prejudice.

Actually i did smartarse. I used a quote from you as a way of introducing a run down of his 2002 season, never mentioned you at all or your views about that season (you never stated any, so OBVIOUSLY i wasn't referring to them).

good stuff, eagle will be much better this year i was impressed with him on the weekend, i couldnt believe the one on one effort against Justin Leppitsch he knocked him to his arse, i think he is much stronger and determined to play this year you watch the vintage eagle this year go nath!!!!!

Fair enough, you had reason to believe the first sentence which was a rhetorical question about Eagle's 2002 season was aimed at you, but your response didn't even mention that bit, so i take it you had no problem with that.

I quoted one sentence of yours that talked about rating him on 2002 form, and commented on how i evaluate that form.

How could i be having a go at you for not changing your opinion (whatever it might be) about eagle on his praccy match form when i don't even mention it?
