Loved when he came on and the ball went out of bounds... Jacko was near the ball and turned around and saw Foley standing behind him... his face beamed and then he gave him a cuddle! The players were rapt to have him back on the park too.

Should be primed for the Dreamtime game after a nice warm up match this weekend. :thumbsu:

2008 season. Woweee! Hope he can give us 4/5 injury free years from here because the blokes a freak

Makes a huge difference to our midfield when he is playing. He is allowed to get off the leash with taggers focusing on Lids and Cotch. When he is fully fit, there is nothing better than seeing him break the lines and kick a running goal from the center. :thumbsu:

Especially when its the winning goal in a final :D :thumbsu:

Nice work, peter. :thumbsu:

Foley will be crucial with Tuck out. Very sad how few games those two have played together in recent years, I still maintain that with all three in peak form, Tuck, Foley and Jackson goes very close to being our best midfield and is certainly the best balanced.

If you check this link of the 2nd quarter and go to the 27 min mark... watch the 30 seconds that follow and you'll see what I was talking about.

Yeah that was my favourite part too . There were a few times when he crept up on a few players and they were like " who the f&$ks this guy ?"

Loved it.

I think we all had this moment, I wanted to jump in the TV and give him a hug too :D

Exciting to see him break the lines and get up and running. Sad thing is that most of those highlights are featuring players like Petts and Richo! Hope he can stay injury free for the rest of the year.

Mate, I am assuming you have never played football as from experience one of the most disheartening/confidence sapping things on the field is seeing your teammate clearly miss a target after you have worked so hard to get it into a good position. The elite teams gut run for the majority of the game, and being a young side we currently don’t take much to lose confidence, and when we have, we take longer than most to get it back (which is when you see us get blown away in certain quarters, something Geelong for example just don’t let happen.)

Although Dan may be a good leader off field, is able to run all day, shows aggression and some controlled physicality, his negatives far outweigh any constructive positives he brings to our team in the majority of weeks. He does not think instinctively in traffic (I call it footy dumb) and you can almost see him trying to methodically work out what he has to do (when often he doesn’t have enough time to do it). Although he is quick, he is quite average-slow off a standing start (which is also not conducive to being a good midfielder). I understand that he gives his all, which Dimma loves, but if we are to seriously start competing with the big boys, and shed the problems of the ‘old’ Richmond, we can’t afford to have players of this calibre in the team anymore. I actually shudder when he is named each week, and even more so when he has the ball in hand just outside fifty, and just pray that he kicks it to, at the very least, a contest. His kicking looks at its best when he kicks long down the line, and I think when he has been in the team his limitations are somewhat minimised when he is playing deep forward/tagger role as his mistakes don’t hurt the team as much.

Dan has stated himself that he was a late starter to football, and that it was going to take time for him to learn a lot of the craft that other have grown up with and find instinctive. I do appreciate his effort but unfortunately it is safe to say at his age he just isn’t up to the standard required of modern day midfielders, let alone being in our best midfield group.

You talking clearances? I'd rather Cotch in than Jackson and then Edwards.... every time he is in there he seems to get something going for us.

I stuffed up the border somehow but fullscreen it :D

Mate, I am assuming you have never played football...

I've heard the Jackson spiel 5,000 times for nearly a decade now, you haven't come close to saying anything new or original.

Anyone bothered to look can see the plummet in output from the players Jackson has tagged this year and how many times he's been a key playmaker while he's at it.

Nobody ever claimed he doesn't make mistakes, just that his detractors are either too biased or too football stupid to see that those mistakes don't come close to eclipsing his value to the side. ;)

Jackson is our no.1 tagger, pc, therefore he's a 1st rotation mid and the choice is about which other two players to add. That's how we're using him ATM.
