How good is it that we don't have to rush this guy back. When he comes in after a couple of VFL games he will be genuinely ready. It will be a huge boost to our midfield say in round 7-10 when we inject Foley back in as an extra rotation. His IN may just make the difference in breaking open some of these close games.

Massive.. Cotch gets first tag guaranteed, lids gets close attention from anyone who can keep up with him, Martin, sheds and Conca looking good in the midfield. How about adding a fit Foley with no tag?! Awesome.
His line breaking and disposal is being sorely missed. Apparently he is back running at the same speed pre injury.
Someone post his highlights reel, that is freaking awesome.

I was thinking about this last night. Cotchin and Lids are the cream on the cake and the inclusion of Filey would be that cherry on the top.

Thing is, I am unsure who's place he will take when he is match ready.

It's no coincidence we dropped off massively after he went down. He wasn't the same as pre-injury, but he was so important for our ball movement through the middle of the ground. We've got players who are smooth movers, but he's still our best at breaking through the middle of the ground.

Newman or Sheds, then move the replaced one back to their original position.

Just need to use guys like Martin, Deledio and Cotchin who can individually hurt on the scoreboard across half forward more, Equus, especially Martin IMO, I'm still far from convinced he's fit enough and consistently switched on mentally enough to be playing midfield for too long a stretch ATM.

Tuck, Foley, Jackson, Conca, Vlastuin and perhaps Edwards from time to time form a pretty formidable inside ball-winning and shut-down core by themselves. Jackson tagging with (a fit and in form) Foley and Tuck alongside is still a very well balanced and very capable starting centre square lineup and there's some excellent depth in the rotations coming through beneath them, without the need to be using our more capable playmakers away from the forward half as much as we currently are.

If you're rotating Martin, Deledio and Cotchin through the middle regularly but also keeping two of them as a strong permanent presence across half forward, AND winning the battle of the clearances, then I'd suggest we won't have any issues kicking a winning score regardless of what set-up we use.

Imagine being an opposition coach dealing with a starting attack of Reiwoldt, McGuane, Vickery, Martin, Deledio, King, then Cotchin, Tuck, Foley in the middle start getting first hands and driving it forward early. Switch Cotchin forward, one of Deledio or Martin go in.

ALL the opposition rebounding defenders have to line up on either a top-shelf midfield type with a tank close to or as good as theirs (if not better)...or get 'lucky' and get Jake King instead. I can think of quite a few half-backs in the league who would struggle to sleep in the week before playing us if we were to get a structure like that happening.

We're getting there and having Foley back will be another big piece in place.

Peptide Foley will be just the injection we need in the second half of the year.

I hope we don't rush him back. Watching the VFL at the moment. Collingwood has Hudson, Didak, Frost, Krakour, Thomas and a couple of others playing at Vic Park. That is great depth. I would hope Foley gets a full month in the VFL before he comes back. Second half of the season would be ideal (R12ish).

mmmm.... salivating over those centre clearances... we're going to dominate with him in the team

whoever does the worst. there are bound to be people who will show themselves that are not in form.
we are not a top 4 side and there are still plenty of people who can improve

On the money Razor , another testament to Hardwicks good coaching and list management. I'm sensing a change of your opinion on Hardwick here , youve got a tincy wincy bit of a man crush for him. I think it's cute !!!

Can't wait to have Nathan back in the side - is a clearance machine of tuck proportions, but with Lids-esque pace to burn! LEGEND :thumbsu:

Oy! Don't bait him Rusty Trombone. I do not want this thread to be about Hardwick.
