What would be Freeman's grievances against the club? Does he think they've mismanaged his injuries?

It sounds odd that a 19yo who has not played a game would want to up and leave, he must have reasons to be annoyed at the club.

But Balme's comments sound ominous.

It's probably nothing that sinister. He has a better offer and might just feel he needs a change of scene.

Re Freeman - Out of contract, no games in two years, no exposed form on the VFL, dodgy hamstrings, massive drinking problems (if you believe whats posted here) and you want a second rounder - your dreaming

Seriously though our second round pick will be 23/24, possibly a bit high given some of the above.
Is that so? Isnt 23 or 24 pick the saints second round selection.
Anderson said there will be other clubs interested.
Its simple economics supply and demand.
Will use him as part of the Treloar or Aish deal.
Who says he is a boozer? Saints fans?
Are you trying to down grade his value?
Hine wont let him go for nothing a top 10 pick.
Unlike Luke Ball.

You seriously sent an email to the club about a young fella having a few beers? What a waste of time.

I fork out a legends membership every year for my wife and myself. I expect the players to be diligent, professionals and ambassadors for the club.

Seeing a player recovering from a soft tissue injury by getting drunk and making a public fool of himself is something that grinds my gears.

Were you 20 years old once?

It's still no excuse if you have literally just injured your hamstring once again, It is such bad thing to do in terms of recovery!

The club didn't have a problem with it.

I dont want to be that guy, but if we do aquire Treloar and Aish, who gets pushed out of the side to make way for Freeman?

Pendles, Steele, Adams, Greenwood, Treloar, Aish, De Goey as a relatively young core, who gets pushed out? Not to mention the plethora of players we have rotate through the middle in Swan, Varcoe, Marley, Elliot and Langdon as he did in parts towards the backend.ß

He is talented but lacks defensive pressure and tends to run one way (cite the coaching staff giving him sprays in the 2's for his lack of defensive work), which to some degree rules him out as a small forward or any other real versatile roles.

Talented as heck and at the moment provides solid depth, but is he as important a signing as Sharenberg given our list atm? No way. If he walks will we be fine? Yes

They're hardly going to put their true thoughts in an email.

Maybe so, or maybe they don't think there is anything wrong with a kid who has been ruled out for the season letting his hair down a bit.

Gotta say Jmac I'm in the other guy's corner.
Assuming he was legless:p it's not a good look.
I'm not saying don't drink, but be mindful of your surroundings and the image you're projecting.

I was however I wasn't a professional footballer recovering from 2 years of chronic soft tissue setbacks. If you knew anything about what effect drinking alcohol when you are injured you wouldn't oppose my questioning.

Sharrod Wellingham was suspended by the club 3 years ago when he was caught drinking during a time he had a soft tissue injury.

Stop the presses.

AFL players get on the cans once their season is over
totally aggree!
And on several occasions , Before pre season starts.Coaches and players.
Some captains drink and drive during the season.
As long as his responsable, and is not in too the funny tabaccie! Or the Antonio Montana stuff!
Which we know exists in the AFL.

News flash: buying a membership does not give you the right to interfere in the lives of complete strangers.

Needs a change of scene? It's not like he's been playing for us for 5 years and he's in a form slump.

I originally interpreted this as using another club to up his price in contract talks with us (ala Scharenberg) and that a compromise would eventually be reached, but it's quite unusual for a club official to come out and make such strong statements. Suggests talks aren't going well.

I saw Nathan a few weeks ago getting heavily intoxicated. This was straight after he strained his hamstring. Sent an email to the club and they were happy he was drinking whilst injured.

Was very disappointed a professional player was drinking heavily when injured. A sign of a person that isn't up to the standards of the AFL.

This was your first ever post. Seems an interesting way to make your debut - slinging mud with nothing to substantiate your claims. Surely you snapped a pic on your phone on the sly that you can attach to prove your claims? Call me a sceptic if you like but I also highly doubt that the Club would have replied at all to an unsubstantiated email alleging that a player was out on the town, heavily intoxicated. No way in hell would they have said they were happy with it.

Happy to forward the original email to you if you provide an email.

Sorry mate but that's bollocks. These guys are entitled to have a good time. I don't recall reading anything about him breaking the law.

If I was Pert the reply would have been..."mind your own business!"

Sounds way to suspicious silly post by the first timer

Really an email to the club? To tell them what exactly - that a 20yo kids was not breaking the law or actually doing anything wrong other than having a drink when his season was over.

That is some sense of entitlement to buying a membership. You get seats , a game and some other niceties with the membership. Getting a say in how someone lives there life and/or setting the standards of a club may be a little too much to expect for your membership.
