I know what you will all say, that he is a pass, because he is over 30 and is coming off a knee reconstruction yes, but he is a massive unit, may have atleast 2 years left in him, is he worth a punt. Won't take much to get him, around late 60's would pick him up, should the Crows make a move for him. Strong marking tall foward, would be useful for a couple of years you would think.

North told him he was no longer wanted so he decided to announce his retirement.

There's nothing to stop him coming out of retirement, as previous players have done. He's out of contract so we're not looking at a Mal Michael scenario either.

Players aren't formally delisted until the various list lodgement dates, so even though he's been told he won't get a new contract and he's announced his retirement, he's still technically on North's player list and can be traded.

Oh.. and no, I'm not even vaguely interested in us trading for Nathan Thompson. There's no need to trade (or draft) players around 30 years of age unless you're right in the middle of the premiership window. We're not.

He'd be a good fit for the dogs - and possibly the Saints if they decide to trade Kosi. Can't see too many other clubs being interested.

Beau Dowler from the hawks is one I would be going for although haven't seen any footage of him playing. Is 21, 194cm and seeing as the hawks are blessed with KPFs, he hasn't had too many opportunities.

We could build a forward line around this guy. As you said, he would take the best backmen eg Scarlett and Glass, imagine if Tippet or Walker had to face Scarlett every time they played, Tippet and Walker wouldn't know what hit them. Let Thompson take the best backmen, and let the young kids develop around him, and make it easier on them.... maybe a possiblity

I have never seen what the fuss is with Nathan Thompson. The guy has always been a middle of the road forward, he has kicked 50 twice in his career other than that usually kicks around 35 goals a year. I have always thought him to be a taller version of Scott Welsh and IMO would have been a nobody if he played footy for a club outside of Victoria.

Not worth the massive cost to the club to relocate him here. Walker will be the answer, but we just have to be patient for 2-3 years until he is a superstar.
