How on Earth did GWS end up with the pies first rounder? A live trade during last years draft?
After Collingwood got such a minimal return during their fire sale, they needed extra picks for academy kids on draft night and knew this year's first was going to be traded in pursuit of young Daicos. GWS saw an opportunity and were able to exploit

I'm a fan of sonsie.. but only seen a few clips. Anyone have any info on him? Looks classy as hell, fast, good user, the kind of player you want in your team
More a mid forward then a forward mid.
Probably one of if not the best deliverer of. Ball inside 50 in this draft class.

has abit of toe on him and can win his own ball.

If you were confident of landing a certain twin in 12 months.

I would be trading Battle and burning a little currency and try get another pick around our first.

the chance to get 2 of Sonsie Hobbs ward maybe even Sinn- is the kind of drafting that allows you to move forward a few years in a single draft.

Purely hypothetical talk here, but the word a couple of weeks ago was that GC want to offload their first rounder - what kind of package could get that done? Some sort of big move up the draft or getting another first rounder (doesn’t have to be as high as GC) would be really significant. Especially since our drafting has been so efficient lately.

What do you think Battle is worth? And to whom?

I'm not sure how we'd get close to the Top 10 mark unless it was Battle + something significant.

Could this do it?
Ross out as a FA- End of 2nd Round Pick.
Battle out for a Pick around 25-30.

Battle pick + Ross compo pick (+ change) for a good 1st RP.

Facebook or twitter ?

Facebook or twitter ?

I think they want to do this to obtain, in exchange, a key forward to help out Ben King who in any event will be moving to St Kilda thus meaning they will then need to recruit or draft another key forward to help out the key forward they have just traded their first round draft pick for.

Reckon Geelong would be looking at GCS pick 3. They have players that GCS may like Narkle Constable etc.

GCS pick 19 or 22 we would want for Battle....minimum.

If Ross gets a pick in the 30s then we are looking good on draft night.

Collingwood I feel will shape draft pick movements. They need to upgrade to get Daicos and also have to take 2 other picks. I smell desperation especially as they also have no coach which impedes player movement.

Cerra no cert if Lyon gets Carlton job. So Freo becomes a player as well.

Lots to play out.

The big purple-headed Schlong goes hard though. Stands up in a tackle and is a real upright member of the community.
Travesty they didn't name him Hugh really.

Those Geelong players are barely worth 3rd round picks, let alone pick 3.

That's the dream but if we've once again overrated our players and continue to get SFA back for them, then a dream it shall remain.
I can't see what capital we have to burn that would snagg another 1st.

100%
Port 2018 traded Polec, Pittard, Wingard and Hombsch. Drafted Rozee, Butters, Duursma. turned them into premiership contenders within 2 years

I’d be starting with Battle and 9 for 3, move onto Battle for 19 but probably settle for 22. He gives them a ready made second key forward alongside King. Considering they paid pick 2 for Weller they’re more likely to do it than not. Is Battle worth 19 or 22. Probably not, but GC are a desperate club.
He’s probably surplus to our needs now with the emergence of Sharman

Trading Battle and Pick 9 for Pick 3 would be the equivalent of Battle being a pick 25.

But after sliding back two spots for Darcy and Daicos it would be more like Battle and Pick 11 for Pick 5, which would value Battle as Pick 34. I feel like that's about right for his value. Maybe GC could sweeten the deal seeing as they'll likely get Dunstan from us for nothing. The can sling Brodie back our way.

Daicos is a father son Monty, collingwood cleared out their first last year and can pay with latter picks they don’t want a first as it will just be used up on daicos. Geelong aren’t getting anywhere near pick 3 with a package of narkle and constable. It’s going to take someone of real worth to get that pick. Battle who knows, cerra is an interesting one given the story’s of Mutual dislike.

If the saints had pick 3, would you want to trade it for 9 and Battle?

Gold Coast are in a very different position then us however. Opposite ends of the spectrum in terms of drafting high-end kids. I think they’ll be banking on pick 3 to bring in a vastly more experienced player then battle though, someone who can teach their youth etc etc. Battle and pick 9 seems like a fair trade in isolation as they could get a young forward and a high pick.

We’d do alright keeping Battle and pick 9 to ourselves but if we want a premier mid higher chance getting that at pick 3 (5). A decent chance at pick 9 (11), given the depth of mids in this draft. I’m personally an advocate for the more picks the better. We can trust our recruiting team if the club gives them the resources to get shit done.

Any interest in Mac Andrew? Seems like he should be available around our pick

Obviously comes with greater risk and would be a longer term investment than taking a mid, but descriptions of him are pretty exciting. Could be our next Ryder. Suppose it depends as well on if we're confident of landing Bing.

Being thrown around the ground and spending as much time in defence as he did up forward, Melbourne Next Generation Academy ruckman Mac Andrew put forward a commanding performance for Vic Country in their challenge match against Vic Metro on the weekend.

It was such a commanding performance that the Demons should not expect to be able to match bids for Andrew, as this year any bid inside the top 20 for NGA prospects cannot be matched.

With similar capabilities to Paddy Ryder, the athletic Andrew managed 15 disposals, seven marks (a game-high four contested), nine contested possessions and one goal in the clash at Windy Hill.

What was impressive from Andrew was the mix of what he provided. From taking strong contested marks forward of centre -- often outreaching opponents in better position -- taking intercept marks when stationed in defence, to cleanly taking the ball off the bounce and using his skills cleanly, it's apparent Andrew is one of this draft's most talented talls.

Andrew is a ruck prospect at 200cm with clean hands, but also has the skills by hand and foot and a set shot routine that can be relied upon. Athletically, Andrew is unbelievable as a high leaper with notable rare agility for someone his height.

Andrew was exposed to only limited minutes playing through the ruck, but when he received the chance, he stood head and shoulders above everyone else. On one play, the 18-year-old had a decisive tap down and followed up his own tap work by winning the ball off the bounce, showing off his athleticism and dynamic ability in similar vein to West Coast star Nic Naitanui.

There was a second ruck contest that stood out; coming up against the 204cm and highly-touted Sam Darcy, Andrew drove his knees into Darcy's chest while elevating his waist up to head height against Darcy in a statement moment.

Through the ruck in past performances, it should also be noted that while Andrew is an unbelievable leaper, his soft hands and taps to advantage have been sublime and make clear that he should over time develop through the ruck.

Where Andrew is vulnerable is when the opponent gets into a wrestling match with him or stops him from jumping, with Andrew still light and getting comfortably outmuscled and outmatched whenever his leap can be nullified at this stage.

Weighing in at less than 80kg, Andrew is a project player who will need to get stronger and do so without losing any of his leaping ability or mobility. It is likely wherever he starts his career he will spend his time developing as a key position player, before transitioning once physically developed into a ruckman.
