Are you sure that's not the 04-05 draft order?

A little sad to see Portland and the Lakers seperated. Some of their battles for Pacific Division Supremacy were fantastic. Would probably rate along with the Celtic/Knicks or Celtics/76'ers as the best (and longest) Divisional rivalry.

When did the Charlotte Hornets become the Charlotte Bobcats and why did the New Orleans Hornets pinch their old name?

Charlotte Bobcats are an expansion team coming into the league in 2004. The Hornets moved from Charlotte because of a variety of reasons in a pretty awkward situation and thus went to New Orleans.

Are you mucking around...or have you been hiding under a rock?:p

Eastern Conference

Atlantic Division: Boston Celtics, New Jersey Nets, New York Knicks, Philadelphia 76ers, Toronto Raptors

Atlantic is alright with stalwarts Celtics, NY, NJ and Philly staying put, newcomer in the Raptors doesnt really matter as they only spent 7 or 8 years in the Central. Loose Orlando and Miami and whilst both are recent additions anyway it is disappointing to lose Miami as there battles with the Knicks through the 90's were something else. Washington also go to the new division which I suppose is no great loss as they have sucked now for a good 20 years.

Central Division: Chicago Bulls, Cleveland Cavaliers, Detroit Pistons, Indiana Pacers, Milwaukee Bucks

Central again is alright, keeps true with Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit, Indy and the Bucks. It does loose a long time servant in the Hawks which is disappointing because some of there Central division battles with Chicago, Cleveland and Detroit in the late 80's early 90's were classic.

Southeast Division: Atlanta Hawks, Charlotte Bobcats, Miami Heat, Orlando Magic, Washington Wizards

Weak, weak division....the Southeast's first division champion will win about 40 games :D

Western Conference

Southwest Division: Dallas Mavericks, Houston Rockets, Memphis Grizzlies, New Orleans Hornets, San Antonio Spurs

The Midwest gets torn in two which in itself is disapointing. You have holdovers in Dallas, Houston, Spurs and Memphis with newcomer NOH. Tough freaking Division. Probably the new Midwest with 4 teams still remaining and of course recent Midwest champs San Antonio and a little further back in Houston.

Northwest Division: Denver Nuggets, Minnesota Timberwolves, Portland Trail Blazers, Seattle SuperSonics, Utah Jazz

The other half of the Midwest with Denver, Minny and Utah with 2 Pacific teams thrown in in Seattle and Portland. Sad to see Utah, the perennial Midwest champs through most of the 90's in a new division. As P&P said, Portland not in the same division as the Lakers is just wrong.

Pacific Division: Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Clippers, Los Angeles Lakers, Phoenix Suns, Sacramento Kings

Same division, just missing Portland and Seattle. Both sad losses, Portland for reasons already said and Seattle are stalwarts and have won the division a few tiems in the mid 90's when they went to the finals.

All in all, not really sure what this realignment is really accomplishing.

Damn! NOH have a hard division.

I'm not sure if I like this re-alignment. It's too much like NHL, NFL and MLB now.

The West gets stronger and the East gets weaker. Not good for NBA.
