Just having a surf through ESPN.com and all the so called experts of the website had there predictions...just thought some if it was interesting reading.

David Aldridge, a journo for ESPN.com has Timmy D as his MVP...now i had pretty much given the award to Jason Kidd but Aldridge makes a good case. Kidd has more to work with, Van Horn, Kittles, Martin, big T-Mac, Jefferson compared to Duncans help. Over the hill Robinson, over the hill Smith...a rookie PG who went missing in big chunks of the season and Rose off the bench??

Duncan is top 6 in the league in 5 different categories, scoring...5th, rebounds...2nd, blocks...4th, minutes...6th and double doubles...1st. On top of that he has raised his free-throw percentage from last year's horrible .618 to .801, and he's shooting better than 50 percent from the floor.

Aldridge makes a pretty good case for The Big Fundamental.

Aldridge continues to impress me with his predictions, he has Gasol for ROTY which is a given. Corliss "The Big Nasty" Williamson for 6th man of the year award and Ben Wallace for Defensive POTY. All of those i agree with. At this point in his article im thinking this guy knows what he's talking about but then.....he ends with his All NBA 1st 2nd and 3rd teams...and it left me doubting his judgement.

His first team was good....

G - Jason Kidd
G - Tracy McGrady
F - Tim Duncan
F - Chris Webber
C - Shaquille O'Neal

His second team goes ok up until he hits the C spot.

G - Kobe Bryant
G - Paul Pierce
F - Kevin Garnett
F - Dirk Nowitski
C - Dikembe Mutombo ???????????

What's with the Mutombo selection? I thought Mutombo had a pretty poor season compared to last season and i thought it was clear that the best 3 bigmen on the year was O'Neal, O'Neal and Wallace. Look at the stats. Wallace loses in one category...scoring. Mutombo gets 11.5ppg to Wallace's 7.5ppg. Wallace outrebounds him 12.9 to 10.8, dishes more dimes, 1.4 to 1.0. Blocks more shots, 3.46 to 2.38 and shoots better from the floor .526 to . 510. Wallace's only weakness is his free throw shooting where he goes a torrid .415.... Wallace is a shoe in for Defensive POTY and i thought was definitely a 2nd team or at least 3rd team selection behind the 2 O'Neal's. Wallace is the biggest reason Detriot are now one of the favourites to come out of the East and Mutombo went missing when he needed to step up in AI's absence.

His third team was

G - Gary Payton (tie)
G - Andre Miller (tie)
G - Allen Iverson
F - Karl Malone
F - Antoine Walker
C - Jermaine O'Neal

And where is Jordan in the All NBA teams...he easily had a better season than Antoine Walker, MJ averaged 22.9ppg, 5.7rpg and 5.2apg and turned the Wizards from a cellar dwellar with 19 wins into a playoff calibre team with 36 wins. Cant say that he didnt play enough ball because Iverson and Jordan both played 60 games this season yet Iverson gets chosen??? MJ was 1st team in my books up until the injuries, he still deserved a 2nd or 3rd team berth IMO.

10 journos over at ESPN.com gave there season awards and the MVP was almost split with 5 to Kidd and 4 to Duncan, the other vote went T-Mac's way....im having difficulty picking one now myself.

Thoughts....and cmon ppl this place has been dead lately...answer me dammit!!! :D

I'll answer you.

Well Ben Wallace did get the Defensive award and rightly so.

MVP : Tracy McGrady
ROTY: Pau Gasol
6th Man: Hedo Turkulou

My NBA 1st team:

PG. Kidd
SG. McGrady
SF. Pierce
PF. Duncan
C. O'Neal

2nd team:

PG. A. Miller
SG. K. Bryant
SG. A. Iverson
PF. C. Webber
C. B. Wallace

3rd team:

PG. G.Payton
SF. K. Garnett
SF. D. Nowitzke
PF. A. Walker
C. J. O'Neal

What do you think jod?

McGrady I may be a bit biased, but Ive seen every game of his, a few of Jason Kidds, a few of Tim Duncans and even a few of Paul Pierce and Bryant, and all are deserving winners, but T-Mac is outstanding, hes got a team of no ones to the playoffs and almost home court advantage! Hardly no Miller all year, ditto Hill, A useless Ewing, a worn out Grant, A scared Garrity, A workmanlike Armstrong, and then scrubs, and all that and still almost home court advantage! Could you imagine with all that garbage in the Magic team, no T-Mac? Definately he is the Most Valuable Player!

Well you ROTY i like but Williamson was my pick for 6th man. On the MVP.....well theres only really three candidates. Kidd, Duncan and T-Mac. Had Jordan stayed healthy, he would be in the mix too. I honestly cant pick an MVP....if i absolutely had too....id go with Duncan but any of the aforementioned three can win it and should they win it, deserve it.

Once again, just like the so called experts you ignore Jordan? Was he not good enough to get into your All NBA sides? I like your first team. Kidd and T-Mac are certs in the backcourt and Duncan is a definite at PF. Peirce over the whole season would get my nod at SF and O'Neal just over Wallace for the C spot. Your first team is on the money.

Your second team is good too, Miller deserves his spot and Kobe is a cert for the SG spot. Webber and Wallace fill the big man spots but Iverson??? Why? Iverson played 60 games, the same as Jordan. The 76ers played better at times without him and they limped into the playoffs with a likely first round exit. Sure he won the scoring title again but his shooting percentage was horrid...under .400. Jordan also played 60 games, averaged 22ppg, 5+ rpg and apg and led a bunch of nobody's to an almost playoff spot. If he hadnt of gone down they probably would have made it. For me the SF spot on the Second team goes to Jordan.

Third team is good though, Malone could sneak in for Antoine Walker with Brand a distant third. Other than that though the third team is good. In fact with Jordan taking the second team spot. Drop Walker and make it Payton, Iverson, Garnett, Nowitski and O'Neal.

Your right, it was either Jordan or Iverson, I went for Iverson, because I thought he scored more PPG than Jordan, but I probably would of like to add Jordan now that I think of it.

I meant to have Turkuolu for most improved and Big Nasty for 6th man sorry!

What happened to tipping Eddie Griffen for the ROTY?

How are you always wrong Jod?

Nobody but Gasol was ever gonna win ROTY....everybody knew that, i never tipped Griffin but i thought he might challenge after he pieced together a few really good games. But the consistency was never there.

Well Ivy does score more points per game but i dont think that would sway anybody putting him in ahead of Jordan. Jordan grabbed more boards and i think he might have even dished out more assists per game. Cant be certain havent seen the stats. Jordan turned the Wiz around and i cant wait til next season. Lets hope he stays healthy.
