The 2013–14 National Basketball League is the thirty-sixth season of competition since its establishment in 1979. A total of eight teams will contest the league. The regular season will be played between 10 October 2013 and 23 March 2014, followed by a post-season featuring the top four in late March and April 2014. The schedule was announced on 9 August 2013. The New Zealand Breakers are three-time defending champions.
Broadcast rights are held by free-to-air network Channel 10 and its digital sports sister station One, in the fourth year of a five-year deal, through to the 2014–15 season. In New Zealand, Sky sports are the official league broadcaster, in the second of a three-year deal.
The NBL all star game and supporting events will be held on the weekend of 20–22 December 2013.

Excited about the upcoming season, not to sure how competitive it will be though.

Wildcats and Breakers in the last game of the year is my pick with Perth to take it home this year. Is anybody up for a tipping competition ??

I'm a bit of a nuffer when it comes to following the NBL. I enjoy it when it's on, and support Melbourne Tigers, but really I don't know a lot about it. It's a bit difficult when you live in Hobart. Haha.

I found there is not alot of love for the NBL. With channel 10 and one having the rights, I hope it gathers a wider fan base.

Just a heads up fellas,

I've started a NBL blog called Hoopology if anyone is interested. I've always found the coverage quite poor and I hope my blog will help improve it.

Looking forward to James Ennis doing this:

I am already checking out. Which one of the writers is you ??
The wildcats picked up a Miami heat guard. Good imports this year

Never really followed it, but now that I live in Melbourne and can go to some games, I'll probably stay in touch a bit more.

Picked the wildcats ages ago arbitraily, same town as the eagles sort of situation I think.

Used to follow Magic when they were about. Is there a team in Brissy or GC this year?

Calling all tippers for a NBL comp. Please let me know if you are interested. 1st round starts tomorrow :D

I would go out of my head if he can bring some of that to the Arena.

As far as the NBL as a whole goes, really liking what we've been seeing. Scoring rates are much higher, much more free-flowing, shooting percentages are up. The move away from the impossibly physical defence is great and I'm feeling pretty excited. Really hope the Perth Arena average can stay above the 10k mark again. Of course, if Ennis can throw down like that gif, then that shouldn't be a problem.

That is the only problem i find with the NBL. It has been somewhat boring in the past. I mean people have the half court on a fast break and they will do a primary school lay-up. Now i know dunking and all of the showtime side of things is not basketball but thats what attracts young viewers and puts bums in seats. Have always thought the NBL is a shooters league. Like you say if Ennis is throwing down like that, then im already there.

It is interesting to me how much the Wildcats have nailed their colours to the mast this season - they will make this Championship #6 or the year is a failure was pretty much the message.

when NZ win i think the comp has failed :D

Breakers off to a winning start over the Hawks at home.

What adjustment period?

The New Zealand Breakers, under a new coach, with two new imports and supposedly handcuffed by the league's clampdown on physical defence, made short work tonight of both the Wollongong Hawks and predictions they'd revert to the chasing pack in the Australian NBL

I think we all would of guessed that one. The breakers still playing good ball even though there is a few changes in their list this year.

As a team, the Breakers converted 12-of-24 from afar and committed only six turnovers for the game. They outscored their rivals 16-0 on points off turnovers.

I was reading the report on the game, Corletto starting the season with a bang

My NBL TV subscription decided to renew itself a week or two ago.

Watching Wildcats v 36ers on the tablet right now. Interesting game so far. Lots of new faces to get used to.

Decent game went down to the wire, nice and free flowing and good reffing I thought

Way too many nothing calls under the basket for my liking.

Wildcats would want to get Knights back out there too, looked a little thin at times.

Ennis is a class above.

Looking forward to seeing Cairns tonight.

Let more go? Wasn't too bad I thought

His 3 point shooting was about 5 classes above. Probably the only guy not to shoot an air all.

Wildcats v 36er's ( Mainly perth highlights )
