NBL moves

Rob Feaster to the Giants
Marcus Timmons and Melvin Thomas have both been strongly linked to Cairns
Pero Vasiljevic to New Zealand
Ben Pepper and Ben Knight are on the move
Gary Boodnikoff most likely to be on the move

Wildcats are in serious trouble. Feaster is gone after being asked to take a huge pay cut. Stephen Black is definitely on the move and Wheeler is apparently weighing up his options. That's 3 of our best players which leaves us with Grace, Harvey and Ronaldson....that record run of playoff appearances could be on the line next season.

Suddenly Vlahov and Longley arent looking so good.

Rucker to Brisbane
D-Mac to Tigers
Melmeth and Boodnikoff linked with the new Hunter team.
Anstey, J Smith, Wheeler, CJ Bruton all linked with the Kings. Kingma likely to be gone!! :(

Cutting salary caps by 30% has made it tough for front office to negotiate contracts, its basically a case of first-in best dressed of who can offer a decent contract.

I think it will be a very unpredictable season next season.

Timmons and Thomas definitely to Cairns
Darnell Mee close to signing with Wollongong to replace Cortez Groves
Ben Pepper will be at Victoria who may now have a decent side, would look beter with D-Mac as well though

Knight, Boodnikoff, Melmeth and Black all up for grabs

On the topic of Victoria, they may be shaping up alright, but JMo hasn't signed on the dotted line yet. Pero and DMac have gone.

Having said that, Feaster, Pepper and Croswell plus a further decent player or two is a solid nucleus.

Retaining the most energetic import in NBL history, ie Jamahl Mosley, is what the Giants need to do to hold my interest in them. Cutting D-Mac put me this close to dropping them and just taking an interest in the league in general without following a team.

The Melbourne Tigers site is claiming that:

The Melbourne Tigers have confirmed they in discussions with former Victoria Giant Jamahl Mosley, regarding him joining the club.

If the talks are fruitful, Mosley would become the second ex-Giant to switch to the Melbourne cross town rivals, after Darryl McDonald signed with the Tigers several weeks ago.

The 24 year old Mosley would round out a very good recruiting period for the Tigers, with the retention of key players and the addition of youth and experience.

Any truth to this one?

It makes you wonder if the salary cap exists in the NBL...

DMac, Gaze, Copeland, Mosley, Bradtke, Mottram. There's no way those guys would be making less than 700k collectively.

Their physio Paul Vizintini told me Gaze has part-ownership, so takes only a very minimal salary for playing (and Lindsay Gaze doesn't take a salary at all)Makes it a bit easier to stay under the cap but gee, the bench players must still be earning shoestring salaries.

Mosley is pretty much a done deal :D

So far the players who have definitely signed are:
D-Mac
Copeland
Gaze
Bradtke
Mottram
Hoare
Smith
Corletto

At the moment Greg Blake, Nathan Taylor and Luke McMillan are all free agents while Timmons has gone to Cairns and Reuter has been axed

D-Mac, Gaze, Copes, Mosley and Bradtke is an awesome 5, Mottram, Hoare and Smith are all good subs. The only downside to signing Jamahl will be that it might halt Mottrams development as his time will drop dramatically

And there is a salary cap but it isn't enforced, a lot of clubs would be over it and it was common knowledge that even when the Kings were garbage that they were often well over the cap.

In other moves Pepper and Boodnikoff look certain to join the Giants while the Kings are close to signing Jason Smith and are looking at CJ Bruton to replace Heal and Franklin in the back court.

Mottram will still get plenty of time, theres no Timmons or Reuter. Moseley wasn't a complete gun at the Titans, he'll be very good for us, but Mottram will still get time, as will Hoare. Moseley won't be scoring as much as he did at the Giants, cos he was the man inside there, which he certainly won't be with the Tiggers. Great pickup nonetheless :) We have 7 guys who can score

And if the old fellas stay fit, the Tiggers have a good enough squad to go all the way. 4 legends and Moseley in the 5, Mottram and Hoare who can both rebound and can both score and Smith who does his job

Understood. I thought this was case before anyway. I still don't see the remaining 6 taking under 700k collectively. If said players are averaging just over 100k per year, their bench players would be on a grand total of around zero to sweet **** all.

I'd say D-Mac wouldn't be on a hell of a lot, considering his age and the fact that Victoria had got rid of him and we're giving him another chance at playing

oh, pharque yeah!

didnt realise the man who gave me the sh*ts last season signed a 2 yr deal on the 26/5...

to replace the Hammer...

welcome CJ Bruton!

I thought i heard Black to Wollongong and Travis Lane to Perth was reported here in the paper.

Wollongong were going to sign up Black if they didn't get Darnell Mee. Now they have Darnell Mee under contract he could end up at any of these places: Cairns, Hunter, New Zealand, Victoria... it is unlikely any other teams have cap room.

Victoria would be shaping up incredibly well if they landed the young up-and-coming chode.

Sapwell has come back to the Sixers, for the minimum!

This tells us two things:

You are all ****ed.

Cairns is way ****ed (he was supposedly on a long-term, much $s deal).
