Does anybody care? They got underway earlier tonight with my mighty Wildcats knocking out the Bullets. Loved it, particularly beating up on Hill, Bradtke, Rucker and Black.

Carn the Wildcats, got Wollongong next. Dont like our chances.

Lovin it, but I agree we will be put to the sword next week (unless there is another asst coach to fire?)

I don't like your chances either. :D

1 Oct: Hawks 105 Wildcats 91
5 Nov: Wildcats 92 Hawks 119
4 Jan: Hawks 116 Wildcats 113

Caught a bit of the game last night - certainly Perth are a better looking outfit with both Rogers and Burston on the floor, but Bailey and the Bear are the main men for us to stop. I think it'll go down to the wire, with the Hawks by about six points at the end (hopefully Saville will be able to get on the court).

Overall, I don't think there's any stopping Sydney and Melbourne from being in the Grand Final series - if it happens, it should be the best series for quite a few years.

Tigers coming up on Tuesday should be naturally a big game, and with Mark Cowan and Mark Price in attendance, the Tigers will have an extra added incentive to win just that little bit more, as this is the only real example that Price will see of the NBL up-close before he accepts/decline the contract.

I thought the Wildcats played real tough last night, all season long the Bullets have basically been favourites going into every match they play, yet manage to screw it up. Last night the Wildcats simply out-hustled them, Redhage as always and in particular Shanahan, showing his worth, still getting it done.

It really should be a good playoffs.

Yeah they have had our number all year. But we look better with Burston and Rogers back playing and Redhage is another quality athletic bigman. If Shanahan can keep up his form we will give the Hawks plenty to think about. Carn the Wildcats.

Why would u leave anthony stewart open like that.
Because none of our players have brains!!!

Bunch of offensive minded idiots, I mean there's 3 seconds left on the clock, why the heck wouldn't you get on him?

Just like that, our seasons over. I knew we weren't going to get anywhere, but seriously, losing to Cairns at home, against a team who played 2 nights ago? :thumbsd: :thumbsd:

Need to get serious for next year. Either go out and get the missing link to be a decent team or totally re-build. This mediocre crap of finishing 4th - 6th and then bombing out doesn't work with me.
My order of preference for the title -
1.Cairns
2.Perth
3.Sydney
4.Melbourne

Cairns have all the ingredients to take the title, just they haven't seemed to find any consistency this year.

That Mistake didn't cost us the game.

here is where we lost the game -

1. Not boxing out Boodnikoff and Grabau numerous times, I think I counted Boodnikoff had 10 points from offensive rebounds.

2. Allowing Crosswell to score 9 points in the second quarter and personally getting Cairns back in the game.

3. Allowing Cairns to control the tempo of the game from the outset, we played to there tempo all night and never took control. FFS they played just 2days before and they had a 7 hr plane flight as well.

Well, nobody would have suspected that

Teams 7 and 5 getting through to the final round against 1 and 2.

I really don't see how its not going to be a Sydney v Melbourne Final now, I mean both the teams have pulled off, one-off wins. Against the elite teams of the comp I cant see them getting 2 wins, while the Tigers and Kings have been resting getting healthy.

Great game last night, great result for Cairns despite again having to take on eight instead of the regular five at crucial times late in the game. Took my mind off Friday night's debacle.

I honestly think Cairns are in a better position to challenge than Perth in their respective semis, but it will be a huge shock if one of them wins.

Good points AJ...

The thing I was most annoyed with was the crappy defensive rebounding - it cost the 36ers big time. Holmes worked hard all night and helped out on the glass, but the offensive boards still showed that a big man is desperately needed.

I was surprised Smyth stuck with the zone for long periods last night, Cairns were shooting well from the outside in the first half and penetrated pretty easily against the zone in the 2nd half. And when they did miss, the offensive rebounds frustrated the hell out of me - don't forget, it was our failure to grab the defensive rebound on the last play that led to Stewart getting a chance for the win.

The 36ers defense was actually quite good in the 3rd quarter, but the problem was we couldn't punish them at the other end. We also made some errors at the end of the 4th and OT - Maher missed a free throw and a layup (Maher's usually clutch, but I thought we should have cleared out for Farley down the stretch - he was on fire towards the end), there was a poorly executed offensive set that resulted in a rushed shot as the shot clock wound down, and Farley missed a go-ahead free throw (though it looked like a clear strip by Mee from where I was sitting).

Mee stepped up at the end, and Boodnikoff and Crosswell were impressive...but there's something wrong about letting Grabau score as much as he did.

A deflating loss, especially after the hysteria of tying it at the end of the 4th - when the pass went to Forman, I thought there was no way we'd get a shot off in time, but ******** it was a great moment.

Ah well, that's the ups and downs of sports I guess...

Not sure if others caught it, but being at that game last night the intensity was definitely there, shame the skill level wasnt. I was almost embaressed that Mark Price and his posse had to watch that match from courtside, but hey it was finals intensity.

After the first half it basically turned into a free-for-all with little scuffles everywhere, and it was clear the Tigers were by far the better team as well. Hopefully they can win on Thursday, wrap up this series quick and then wait for the Kings.

Tough loss against the Tigers but we played horribly yet the Tigers never really blew us away. That's a good sign so hopefully we can come back home get the business done and head back to Melbourne to try and get the series win.

Game 2 will be huge!

It's looking good for the Kings, who were rarely troubled tonight by the Taipans. Having won 3 titles in a row and now being unbackable favourites to make the 4-peat, the Kings have proved themselves to be a class above the rest of the comp. It's a shame for the club that they aren't able to draw a crowd - a city that normally likes winners should be getting behind this team.

Anyway, here's some of my pics from tonight's game:

Lets face it, the league, nay the sport really needs a Melbourne v Sydney GF Series, in game 5, over-time, with a 3 pointer to decide it....hit by Chris Anstey.

Well we can dream cant we? :p

i cant stand the kings...they are this awesomly good team in a city of 4.5 million and look where they are playing a major final and how many people actually attended! this is a freakin joke. 3192 spectators...WTF. how can cairns, a city of 150,000 people get 4-5 thousand people consistently to H&A games? Kings are great, but sydney as a whole is a joke.
