1. PIGS - Starting 5 will be too strong and with the bench to back it up, plus they know how to make the finals, do they know how to win a final?

2. 36ERS - They know how to win. Recruiting the 2nd best big man in the league, The Cat coming back, all they need is to go to Science and buy some chemistry!

3. WILDCATS - Hopefully after last years worst possible start, the Wildcats front office can learn from there mistakes, and get prepared early and work with the team, and not only buy but produce chemistry!

4. BULLETS - Im pretty sure the Bullets can make the Top 4, providing there big guns can take shape. Helliwell, Rutherford, Kerle, Egan can work together and create a core group for the bullets to work with.

5. TIGERS - Gaze hopefully will be 100%, and with Australia's best ever basketballer back even at 38, should get the Tigers a spot in the Top 6. Bradtke, Copeland, Timmons, Gaze and adding Mottram. The Tigers will be there.

6. CROCS - By adding Wayne Turner to the program, the Crocs look pretty good, but age shall weary them, Having Rose, Kelly and Reidy, injuries could occur. But having these old heads could be alot smarter then what everyone thinks.
------------------------------------------------------------

7. KINGS - Does the coach make the difference? I dont think so, even if its Australia's most winningest coach, at the moment having Heal and Melmeth as the only big guns in the Kings line-up. With the help of the coach, can these 2 bring a finals apperance for the underachieving Kings?

8. HAWKS - Losing Thomas to ADELA, is a big loss , but the return of Dench, could prevent the Hawks from being in the bottom 5.

9. TAIPANS - Getting rid of Trahair, keeping Stewart, getting Davidson and Arkell, hopefully the backcourt can step it up for the "unlucky" Taipans. Maybe the Taipans can do a West Coast Eagles and win every game at home and somehow be in the Top 6!

10. CANNONS - Can Dad and Dave get any better? Hopefully for the Cannons CJ can play without injury and others around him can follow his lead, and play above potential, i dont think it will happen

11. GIANTS - Well unfortantley for the Giants there is no where lower in the NBL ladder then 11th spot. DMac and Sheridan can not lead a team of no-names higher then 11th spot, the front office hopefully can sign some "actual" players and rebuild this club to where it belongs.

hmm... the pigs have two noteworthy additions...

just signed last season's 36'er standout, willie farley..

and from cairns, and former golden boy (and bloody over-rated) aaron trahair..

I can't see the Wildcats finishing 3rd without Rogers. In fact I can't see them making the playoffs

And beware the Tiggers. Before Gaze went down last season Melbourne were on top of the ladder. If the big 4 can stay fit I expect Melbourne to be Adelaides biggest threat

Wildcats wont make the playoffs unless they can find a decent bigman to replace Rogers. 36ers wont lose a game.

* They have a decent big man in Brett Wheeler, a more team orinianted player.

* They have the best scoring PF in the league with Ronaldson, teams well with former Titan teamate Wheeler.

* They have one of the best finds last year, Mr Do-it-All, Rob Feaster.

* They have the 2nd best SG in the country in James Harvey, an injuried season last year, when he actually did play, Wildcats where virtually unstoppable.

* They have the BEST PG ever in the history of the NBL, in Ricky Grace, came second in MVP at 36, he is captain this and will step up even more with the responsibilty.

* The have one of the best bench players in the league, in Ben Thompson.

* They have the best G/SF rotation in the NBL, with Stephen Black, Ben Thompson, James Harvey, Ricky Grace and Rob Feaster.

A proud tradition will continue through this ball club.

Wildcats Top 4 with out a doubt.

You dont need to convince me....you havent been around long enough to know that I'm a huge Wildcats fan. You say we got Wheeler, any evidence of this???? If so, were a shot a finals ball if Ronaldson can get his act together. We are great in the smalls department with Grace, Harvey, Black, Thompson and Feaster.

But the loss of Rogers and Vlahov will be very very tough to cover. Ronaldson was a start and IF we have gotten Wheeler, which i havent heard anything on then we are almost there. Still....Wheeler and Ronaldson are no way near as good as Vlahov and Rogers.

We will need to go shopping, one feels. For an american bigman.

I'm sorry but this is laughable. Finished 1 solitary vote from sharing the MVP with Bradtke at 36 years of age. The guy is a freak. So according to that, Grace is the second best player in the whole league. Considering Bradtke is a centre....that means no other guard is better than Grace.

Unless over the offseason someone has become better??? :D

Grace is the greatest PG the NBL has ever seen.

"You dont need to convince me....you havent been around long enough to know that I'm a huge Wildcats fan. You say we got Wheeler, any evidence of this????" - LMAO, if your such a big Cats fan, you should know if we got Wheeler or not? The Answer is yes, On the 24th July 2002, The Perth Wildcats have addressed their lack of options at centre following the loss of Paul Rogers by signing former Victoria Titans centre Brett Wheeler.

The 208cm Wheeler brings a wealth of experience to the Wildcats having played 331 NBL games, and has also played in four Grand Finals over the course of his 12-season career.

"If so, were a shot a finals ball if Ronaldson can get his act together. We are great in the smalls department with Grace, Harvey, Black, Thompson and Feaster." - Yeah it will, Wheeler, Ronaldson, Feaster, Harvey and Grace, is up there with the best starting 5's in the league. Wheeler and Ronaldson knows what to do, Feaster and Harvey have been there and done it, and Ricky has his 'refuse to lose' attitude, this club is gonna be hard to beat, anywhere.

"But the loss of Rogers and Vlahov will be very very tough to cover. Ronaldson was a start and IF we have gotten Wheeler, which i havent heard anything on then we are almost there. Still....Wheeler and Ronaldson are no way near as good as Vlahov and Rogers." - Jod23, Im Andrew Vlahov's #1 fan, but Ronaldson if the perfect replacement for AV, an exprience Boomer, in great form, can score, take the odd board, but more offensively orientated, where as AV was definsively! We did get TR, well who better to get then the bloke who played next to him for about 5 years in Wheeler, they have good chemistry, and will fit into the Cats organistation better then most signings going to their new club next year.

"We will need to go shopping, one feels. For an american bigman." - PERTH Wildcats will have a second American player in town by the start of the National Basketball League season in October. "We had a college graduate ready to board the plane a week ago but he got cold feet and pulled out," Vlahov said. "We're looking at someone else at the moment.

"We can't afford a top-shelf player," he said. "We have some specific criteria which have to be met but, really, the guy is for reasons of depth only."

C: Wheeler
PF: Ronaldson
SF: Feaster
SG: Harvey
PG: Grace
--------------------
PG: Black
SG: Olowoyo
SF: Thompson
PF: ???
C: Burtson

I think this will bring you up-to-date with the Wildcats

Where are the rebounds going to come from?

Wheeler is an average rebounder, at best, and Ronaldson, well he's never been introduced to the key.

Ronaldson is a PF in name only. He is a 6'8" small forward.

Without a noted rebounder the Wildcats will get hammered, week in, week out.

IMHO the 36ers will win the title easily with the biggest opposition coming from the Mighty Melbourne Tigers and the Pigs. The 6ers line up is just awesome, perhaps the best side on paper the league has seen

Well i never heard anything on the news or in the paper on the signing and the Wildcats website is pretty bad....but thats great news getting Wheeler. He is a good player, not a superstar but he will do the job.

Ronaldson is no where near the perfect replacement for Vlahov, Vlahov was one of the best rebounders and defenders in the league. Ronaldson is a shooting slow SF who doesnt know the meaning of the word rebound. Wheeler is ok on the inside but unless the Wildcats can find a rebounder, we are gonna get slaughtered on the boards, night in and night out.

I read in todays paper about the Cats looking for an american bigman, bummer that we dont have the cash to go after a quality player. Looking for depth i think Longley said. Well i think we need a rebounder, not depth.

For me its hard to keep track of who is winning and losing in the NBL. You prob have to have Foxtel or Optus to see the matches and there is like 1second in the news so seeing i go for the Melbourne Tigers they will win the cup or whatever they get :D

"Well i never heard anything on the news or in the paper on the signing and the Wildcats website is pretty bad....but thats great news getting Wheeler. He was signed on the 24/7, it was reported on the site on the 24/7....so you cant blame the Wildcats website!

Ronaldson has played over 400 games, and has avg 17 and 5 compared to 16 and 9 but AV is a god damn legend! Can you name anyone, that could come into this club in a better situation?

"I read in todays paper about the Cats looking for an american bigman, bummer that we dont have the cash to go after a quality player. Looking for depth i think Longley said. Well i think we need a rebounder, not depth." - Big man and boards are gonna be the only problem for the Cats this year!

Yeah the Wildcats website is good for up to date news but look in the players section. They dont have Ronaldson or Wheeler in there yet. They could just use and old photo for the time being until they pose for shots in there Wildcats uniforms...

Your not right in thinking Ronaldson is the best replacement for Vlahov. He is a completely different kind of player. He doesnt play D and he doesnt rebound. The two best thing Vlahov did! I dont like Ronaldson and i think it was a mistake to sign him, if he proves me wrong, ill be very happy. But i just cant see it happening.

New Bigfooty Basketball Guru??? I think not! Do you know anything about real basketball.....the NBA.

If the '6ers remain injury free it is hard to see anyone getting near them by the end of the season. They may start pretty slow though due to a limited preparation with Rogers, Cat, Nash all having had off-season ops and have only just hit the pine in the last week or so (and I'm not sure when Charles Thomas arrives).

How about the pigs? Willie for Rillie and a fit McKinnon, they gotta be better than they were last year.

Doubtless Casey will have them firmly installed as favourites (especially after they beat the 6ers first match!) :D :D :D

Bit Harsh. CJ and Thomas are one of the best back courts in the league and now have excellent back-up in Mann and Chappell (a 6.9 PG). Early indications are that Poole will exceed Cal's expectations. He has been unbelievable in the Cannons practise games. The fact that the Cannons have been able to maintain over half their roster from last season, which showed promise towards the end of the year will also be positive. They are still a little weak at Centre, but are more than capable of covering this. I don't think they can match it with the 36'ers, but don't be surprised if the Cannons finish in the top 4.

That means they would have to start winning some road games!
Are the Cannons still allowed 3 imports this year?
