Well folks, the opening round of what will be the most exciting NBL season ever, is nearly upon us, so what better time to lodge our tips for the season opener!!!

Wed Sep 19
Gold Coast V Brisbane - The Blaze will be pumped up in their NBL debut, especially against their future arch-rivals in the Bullets. Most teams win in their basketball debuts, so I'm expecting the Blaze to get up 102-96.

West Sydney V Townsville - The Razorbacks will be breathing fire after 2 horrible seasons and I expect them to commence 2007/08 on the right track. 90-82.

Singapore V Melbourne - Round 1 can throw up some funny results, and I think the Slingers may surprise the Tigers here after the long flight. 111-100

Thu Sep 20

New Zealand V Cairns - The Breakers are aiming for their maiden play-off year, so will be viewing the Taipans as their bench-mark. I think they'll be up for the occassion for a 107-96 win.

Fri Sep 21

Adelaide V Wollongong - The new look Sixers will be fired up and ready to go from the very start. Expecting a blow out here. 118-93

Sat Sep 22

Cairns V Townsville - North QLD derbys are always clinkers, and I'm expecting no exception here. Taipans to win a thriller at home to send the Crocs to 0-2 and a poor start to the season. 98-97

South Dragons V West Sydney - The Dragons are eyeing off a top 4 spot for this season, with Cortez Groves on board, and will be too good at home for the Razorbacks. 113-100

Sydney V Gold Coast - The Blaze will continue a memorable opening weekend, and catch the Kings unawares in a shoot-out at the King-Dome (which the Kings don't like). 122-115.

Sun Sep 23

Perth V Singapore - The Wildcats will be strong as ever in 2007/08 and should have no problems in this Sunday game against Singapore at home. Probably will be the largest margin of the weekend. 108-80

EDIT - Melbourne V Wollongong - Tigers to open their account for the season with a solid win over the Hawks, who will have an opening weekend to forget. 102-85

I won't be brave enough to tip margins, and it's a fair way out so I'll more than likely make changes. :D

Gold Coast v Brisbane - The Blaze have actually put together a pretty impressive roster, but the champions should (impending Caseyism) get the job done.

West Sydney v Townsville - Well I'm not picking against my own team. Anyway I'll be fully expecting a win first up.

Singapore v Melbourne - Will Singapore even have a full roster? Anyway, it'll be a cakewalk.

New Zealand v Cairns - It hurts me to say it, but the scummers should go all the way this year. Obvious Salary Cap infringements, but their roster is freakishly good.

Adelaide v Wollongong - Obviously the Sixers will be no where near the quality they would have been if Newley had stayed, but should still get the job done at home against the Hawks, who will suffer badly from the loss of Saville.

Cairns v Townsville - I'm pretty sure Cairns will win but I'm not picking against us against those pricks :p

South Dragons v West Sydney - Can't believe the Dragons let Ellis go and I think they'll suffer for it this year. Still will beat West Sydney.

Sydney v Gold Coast - Very rarely lose at home and they won't lose this.

Perth v Singapore - Will the Slingers/Swingers/Singers even have enough players. They'll be trounced horribly.

Gold Coast V Brisbane - Brisbane to be too good for the Blaze.

West Sydney V Townsville - West Sydney to get off to a great start with an upset win at home.

Singapore V Melbourne - Slingers in for a long season.

New Zealand vs Cairns - Cairns to open up their season nicely.

Adelaide vs Wollongong - Hawks to upset Adelaide.

Melbourne vs Wollongong - Hawks too tired after the game in Adelaide the night before, Tigers should have this one easily.

Cairns vs Townsville - Crocs to upset Cairns.

South Dragons vs West Sydney - Dragons to thrash the Pigs.

Sydney
vs Gold Coast - Kings to hold off the Blaze in a close one.

Perth vs Singapore - Perth to be too good for Singapore.

Tips in CAPS

WED GAMES
Gold Coast vs BRISBANE (Should be close for a while, but Brisbane should have the depth to get them home)

West Sydney vs TOWNSVILLE (But put a watch on the Pigs, particularly on the line bet)

Singapore vs MELBOURNE (Have Singapore got a full team yet?)

THURS GAME
New Zealand vs CAIRNS (Close match, harder to pick at first glance. Take the Snakes on trust)

FRI GAME
ADELAIDE vs Wollongong (Sixers at home easilly)

SAT GAMES
MELBOURNE vs Wollongong (Again should be simple for the Tiges)

CAIRNS vs Townsville (A lot depends on how they back up from the travel, but again they do have some good depth which should be enough at home)

SOUTH DRAGONS vs West Sydney (Easy win here for the Dragons, Groves/Heal/Ingles to do the bulk of the scoring)

SYDNEY vs Gold Coast (Home court again a factor, also expecting Saville not to do much)

SUN GAME
PERTH vs Singapore (Wildcats don't lose many at home, and won't lose this one)
