NEAFL 2015

Redlands , ( ex Collingwood ) player in Peter Yagmoor, was very impressive,,, is a class above and maybe should br serious looked at by the Lions or Suns,... is still only 22,

Hope u r wrong stuy bc there is a bit of talk re a lot more blokes being drafted out of NEAFL and various other 2nd tier comps this year bc of the weak draft.

Watched Southport and GWS yesterday and thought it was a good standard. Sharks were good early and took the game up to them but GWS through fitness and midfield dominance were never really likely to lose. Hancock in his first game looked capable at the level which is good for him coming off a knee reco.

Think overall Stuyd the standard is still as good just that Redland and Sharks seem to have dropped off, but from all reports Sydney Uni have gone up a couple of notches.
Its an enjoyable comp to watch that probably will always ebb and flow depending on the AFL club reserves strength.
Just need to be patient with the NEAFL as we dont want to see a raft of changes again.

There is no way known the NEAFL will chnage in format over the next 5 years imo - if there are changes to be made it will be at the lower tiers to ensure club viability, competiveness and numbers. The QAFA A & B comps appear to be pretty good right now, the Nth/Sth divisions have a couple of very weak sides in them combined with a few very strong sides, the QAFL is relatively even with Labrador and Morningside the standouts but teams #3-#8 are pretty close from what i can tell.

Kittycat, yes true, the top 4 or 5 sides are good to watch,,,,, but the other 5 are not up to the standard of 2 or 3 seasons ago .

SMY,
agree, the QAFL , is a pretty even comp , after the top 2 sides.

Kittycat,

Your comments above might have a bit to do with D. Bonney Ex Morningside, A Lucy & J Turner Ex Aspley shoring up their stocks - Good luck to the Sydney Students - The standard of AFL in Grass routes area of the Greater Sydney region is laughable - Only 1 NEAFL Standard side to come out of what 3- 4 million residents - Hang your head in shame AFL HQ, more money needed to convert (Bribe) the school teachers and the NSW Education Department to love our game!!!!!!!! That way they will embrace it and it will be played at school level, which in turn will grow the game in NSW - Its not rocket science FFS.

Gee whiz BB not sure you actually get how difficult it would be / is to convert a mindset that says this is the sport I followed, my dad followed, my dads dad followed. Its a bit like saying Aust can't get a half decent RU side out of 23 million people but NZ can

Or that the NRL are pathetic bc they can only find 1 decent team to come out of Melb.. Changing a whole mind set is damn hard and with a couple of decent sides in Sydney right now it will get easier but how far has a sport like American football expanded into emerging markets??

Nice one BB!! Love the Aspley segway!!
Think Lucy has been out for a few weeks so they will get stronger. Also Brabazon and Sierakowski have missed plenty. Not sure if its correct but believe they 5 ex AFL players who all can still play.

Agree with SMY - tough market. Academys should see plenty of home grown talent float through over next 3-5 years.

Lions are scratching around for players Peanut - with the State 18's on, their normal top ups aren't available. Just a heads up.. :)

Yeah I figured as much, but thought they might still scrape over the line. I think you have convinced me though.
And if they need a player, I could still pull on a jersey I reckon. I would be able to get a day off work tomorrow too. Let me know !! lol

:) might be a case of all hands on deck mate!! last time out they were roundly demolished and will be damn cold in the nations capital I imagine!

Wow what a weird tipping week, plenty of upsets although thought the Redland v Southport game was always going to be a close one.But 2010premier & Stuyd1 those Broadbeach stalwarts didn't tip and found the four leaf clover by getting 3/4 for the away wins somethings just dont make sense. Have a great week.
