Haven't heard anyone talking about recruiting Neagle under the F/S rule.

Anyone been keeping an eye on him?

He's been great for Gippsland, in a team filled with stars he's been the standout for a few weeks now. Kicked 7 on the weekend playing against big bodied Jets defenders, takes a great contested mark.

187cms, 97kgs, so he's a big lad for 17.

Something to look forward to in 2006.

Big Headed, Lazy, turns like the titanic

will be a wasted spot on the list IMO.

but happy to be proven wrong, but aint holding my breath.

God, how hard is it to convince you that he's good.

50 goals this season, including a bag of 8 against 2nd placed Ballarat, 7 against Eastern Rangers and Western Jets, and 6 against Dandenong Stingrays and Oakleight Chargers.

Average 10 kicks a game, 8 marks a game (3 contested ave) and 3 tackles per game.

For someone that's lazy and turns like the Titanic he sure does play well.

What are you going to comeback with now?

He smells? He's ugly?

Just because you kick goals in the TAC cup doesn’t mean you'll make it to or at AFL level. Ben Broad, Adam Richardson, Julian Kirzner and Ben Cosgriff are some prime examples. The full backs in the TAC cup are usually very under developed and in some cases under sized height wise and are exploited by the bigger bodied kids. The advantage he has at TAC cup level will be gone in the big league.

He needs to show some other attributes because at the minute he's a one trick pony and that trick isn't all that special. His lack of a second effort once the ball hit’s the deck is a concern. He did not have a pre-season so ill cut him some slack but whether you have the fitness to chase or not at least attempt and show you are trying to do some defensive work.

Couldnt get a kick in the Under 18 championships.

From what Ive heard fullbacks rarely get drafted out of the TAC Cup all the best key position players are playing up forward.

If they cant make it in the AFL as Centre half forwards etc. they then developed as defenders.

Last week against Carlton Solly came to our function.

He was queried about Neagle and he said that Essendon were looking at him but he might not go in the draft this year. If he doesn't go this year then next year they would 'likely' pick him up under F/S.

What do you expect? A ready made player that will kick 100 in his first AFL season? He shows the promise in terms of marking, leading, using his body and kicking, things like defensive chasing and 2nd efforts will come with time, it's not as if he's beyond help.

You can throw any number of examples of failed full fowards, but the fact is, good fowards still come out of the TAC cup.

So any full forward in the TAC cup showing good form is just a product of poor full backs? Sounds pretty ignorant to me.

I'd love to have him at the Dogs, at least we'd appreciate the opportunity not just try to justify why he isn't good enough.

He was still training at the club, so I'd presume that means we intend to draft him.

I read a few people on BomberBlitz suggested we should rookie him. Given that he is a bottom age player and can play under 18's next season, he doesn't qualify for the rookie draft.

I actually think he could develop into a pretty dangerous Andrew Embley type. He obviously has very good hands, reads it pretty well and has a thumping kick.

From what I've heard, Hudson and Gippsland are desperate to keep him for another 12 months, they obviously rate him pretty highly.

How selfish is that? They want him to play at the Power rather than get drafted.

Well, if it's pre-ordained that's he's F/S then it's probably better for Gippsland and Essendon that he plays another year at Gisspland.

Not if we have someone else in mind for our F/S pick next year and neither look to be worthy of a 2nd Round pick.

Well, here's hoping you overlook him so we can grab him.

Not worth a 2nd rounder, pfffft!

Am I on the Collingwood board?

He is not worth a second round pick. Im sure any recruiter will tell youi that in fact im pretty confident that if we did not take him father son that he'd be around at our last pick.

He's a one trick pony who lacks intensity. You can get away with it in the junior ranks but you will be found out in the senior level. I've seen him play 6 times this year, three of those were against the best of his peers at the championships and he was like a fish out of water. If you can tell me after those efforts recruiters have him rated in the best two rounds of the draft then i want a kilo of the ******** you're taking.
