The Dump Truck as moved into the AFL top 10 for pressure acts.

Interesting to compare him against a similar mid-field bull in Brayden Sier, whom many of us had high hopes.
He’s been one that has come out of nowhere on pre-season crystal balling to deliver a significant impact to our ascendancy in 2025. May Neds’ ascendancy continue.
He's a much better player than Sier.

'Dump Truck' is good.

He has presence out there. Loving that we have some physically intimidating players who aren't afraid to use it. Maynard is obviously one. Long is gaining in confidence. And then of course there's Beau, who must be a terrifying prospect for oppo players who have the misfortune to find themselves with the ball when he's anywhere in the vicinity.

So why did the coach single Ned out for special praise after the game?
When? It was the reporter that wanted to talk about Ned's narrative, Fly didn't single out Ned at all in the post match press conference, he just answered the question like he should about all his players.

Yes, Fly did answer a question about Long’s pressure by saying, “I thought he was enormous.”

Doesn’t strike me as a coach looking to replace him.

According to Josh Daicos, Collingwood’s midfield is better with Long in it.

Will be hugely vital against North. Their one wood (probably their only club) is their contested work at clearances

As Bucks would say, if we can nut them at clearances via the likes of big Ned, the W will be half way achieved. Their defence won’t cope if we get equal entries

He’s certainly more committed to afl than Sier, but Sier has him covered for skill thus far. Not sure why we need to run down one player to pump the tires of another.
Sier was the most overrated player I can remember. It was just BF that thought he was going to be special. Not even in the same class as long. He was a big boy who was nothing special. I didn't bring up the comparison, I was just responding to someone else.

Off the back of his 2018 finals series, he looked like he was going to be the absolute business.

This is rewriting history a bit Manic. In 2018 Sier averaged 20 touches (over 50% contested), 5 tackles and 4 clearances a game, in 64% TOG. His clearance and contest work in tight was crucial to our finals run.

His TOG in 2018 is almost identical to Long's, funnily enough.

What's nuts is that I was having the Sier vs Long discussion with my son last night - never even thought of it before and here it is on BF the next day

FWIW I think Sier has Ned for natural talent (unrealised bar a short spurt) but would take Ned in my team any day of the week based on his current output and a clear desire to get the best out of himself. I imagine he's a ripper to have around the group.

Sier lacked desire.

I may have gone overboard but to my eye, Long offers much more. Sier was lazy and unreliable. He didn't have the same presence as long. I could be biased though

Long’s TOG is skewed because of his sub appearances though.
