We are now up to the last vote in the Essendon 2008 by consensus, found here

The last thing to do is to name our best 22, but what is the best way to form a consensus on this?

There are going to be so many variables, it will be difficult to get a majority.

For example

Welsh could be listed anywhere from HFF, FP, HBF,BP to Bench or not even in the team

There are many more variables and players, so give us some ideas how you want to do it guys.

Get everyone to name their best 22, and whoever gets the most votes are chosen, and whoever out of those 22 get the most votes in a given position would get that position.

Do each part of the ground at a time.

Defence first, list all potential defenders and we vote on them.

If a player like Welsh for example doesnt make the backline then he is available for the forward line vote list, if he makes the backline then we cross his name off the list for the forward line because obviously people who voted see him as a defender in our best 22 rather than a forward.

What about we have:

McVeigh
Fletcher
Welsh
NLM
Dick
McPhee
Lee
Hislop
Ryder
Reimers

you choose 3, a full back a and 2 aback pockets. Then we use the reamining defenders for the CHB line. ie. Michael Slattery and Nash are chosen, then the list is:
McVeigh
Fletcher
Welsh
NLM
Dick
McPhee
Lee
Hislop
Ryder
Reimers

then 3 are chosen, ie. McPhee Ryder and Fletcher. Then we choose the bench, ie. NLM. Then we do the forward line, midfield and rucks the same way:thumbsu:

Sounds like a pretty good idea but how do we get their position?

Do we first vote on WHO is the back 6, then once we have those 6 , we vote on their position?

Position is pretty irrelevent in todays footy apart from the KP's. Plus depends so much on matchups. I'd be happy with back 6, midfield, forward 6, bench, emergencies.

Agree.

Put up a list of players who can, have, or the potential to play down back and we decide on the back 6. We're not that stupid (well atleast I hope not ;)) to select 6 half back flanker with no KP's.

I think we should wait until after trade week and the draft to do this though. Otherwise it is just a waste because we might have to revise it after these periods.

The thing is no trade or drafts have been done in the consensus.

There is no way we could work out how to agree on a majority draft scenario, and a lot of people don't even know any of the kids or have seen them p[lay.

As for trades, if you have seen some of the so called trades offered up in the threads, that wouldn't work either.

This way we just delisted and now name our best possible 22 without any draft choices or trades.

At the end of the day, it is just a fantasy scenario and doesn't have to be exact

I agree with this methodology, but shouldn't we start with the midfield, then go through backline/forwardline? Those that are considered outside of our top 6 midfielders could then slot into calculations for HB / HF
