I'm all for free speech and having a whinge and venting some anger when Freo turns out insipid carp on the field but seriously the non stop diatribe of negativity that's been vomited up all week is getting beyond a level I think is reasonable.
Some people only seem to post when they want to vent and that is their right but some here seem positively gleeful when we are bad so the can rip into the club, the coach the players, whatever.
The degree of whiteanting, the sack harvey, trade pav bullsh*t and the relentless attacking certain players has made me stop reading most of the week.

Let me be very clear I have no desire to censor anyone or to moderate. I am venting about how sickened I have been by the mob lynch mentality here.

So free speech and all that's my opinion, do what you like with it.

Great post E Shed.

I have found it increasingly difficult to read this board the last couple of weeks as there seems to be a "chicken little" reaction to our losses.

Yes we are not playing well but we have undertaken a huge list turnover and it will take time before some of our draftees are AFL ready. Unfortunately we have also been hit with injury and as we don't have that depth across the board there is not as much pressure from outside the 22. As our injury list improves and our draftees gather more experience, this will change. It is already starting to happen.

The trade pav thread was a steamer....:thumbsd:

You guys should know by now that I'll gladly call out a troll or white ant until they either leave or pull their head in... besides the main culprit who's currently red carded, there's a few more out there flying dangerously close to the sun right now...

Sure, as supporters we have had to eat a shit sandwich 2 weeks in a row, but most of us are pretty hopeful that we'll work out why our final quarters are such a problem for us over the next few weeks and string some 1/2 decent performances together. Which is what we want to see right now - improvement.

Negativity? Some would say what starts on the field, ends in stands. If your players dish up crap what do you expect people to do, eat it up and ask for more? Half the problem with Freo is the eternal optimism a lot of the supporters have, and that then flows on to less pressure on the people who run Freo to change anything.

It's not even about winning games but simply about expecting the players to put 100% into every game and it is clear they are not.

So playing Head, Thornton or Browne instead of De Boer, Hinkley, Drum or Broughton is a "Youth policy"?

Can you let me know what is the offensive gameplan for the dockers?

Can you tell me why Tarrant plays well On Brad Johnson and then is moved forward the next week.

Why do our players who confused when they have the ball?

Ok. Lets look at Melbourne, and Essendon.

Essendon are playing young players and their gamestyle is run at all costs.

Melbourne also are playing young players and their gamestyle is run and carry possession game.

I dont really care about the results at the moment, I just to see a gamestyle being developed and the kids being played instead of mature age players who turnover the ball and get pushed off the ball too easier.

^^^^^^^^^ what he said

My gripes are more to do with Gameplan and Selection more than anything

I mean, its not their fault they are s***... they shouldnt be in the team (i speak of the usual mob who need not be named again)

I agree with E Shed after every loss the knives come out. It happened last year, you all wanted players gone and now there gone its still not good enuff. I hardly read this board anymore as its just all neg crapola and too many ppl have an opinion on 1 player and it doesnt matter what that player does it will not sway that persons opinion.
Yeah i agree our gameplan sucks abit and some selections are baffeling but how do we know that the guys playings are not the ones putting in all the hard yards. If young guys arnt getting a go it shows me there not putting in big enuff efforts at training and at WAFL.

rotto... De Boer was injured and as stated by Harvey Hinkley has things "he needs to do" to get selection. Drum was selected, played poorly and was deservedly dropped.

Essendon HAD to play young players, their more experienced players were injured and unavailable as well as they culled a lot on the last two years not just one like us.

Melbourne are in a similar situation. They cut a lot of experienced players, but shit players like Brad Miller still get games.

The kids will get played when they deserved to get picked. You can't just pick them automatically and never drop them.. gives them the feeling that they dont have to do anything to get selected... thats a great mentality to give them.

Sometimes I wonder if people actually understand footy at all.

It has been a very melodramatic week on this board. Time to stop slitting our wrists and looking for miracle cures (trading pav) and realise we've only seen a fraction of our list play and there are many players to be played, many mistakes to be made and much hair pulling to come before this team really starts to take a consistent and winning shape.

We probably need to take a long term view of it all and realise that venting like madman every week is not healthy or helpful. That's not to say we're resigning ourselves to accepting mediocrity, it is being more circumspect and less emotional about it all.

GO FREO :thumbsu:

I just watched the game again and while dissapointing it wasn't all negative with some pleasing performances & development if you can look at them in isolation. "From little things, big things grow"!

You're the man Stronzo.

Too many short fuses around here. Any excuse is enough for a temper tantrum and a diatribe against anyone and everyone from Rick Hart to Scott Thornton. Most of the posting here has just been carry on, general sookiness and "look at me, I can throw all of my toys way further out of the cot than you!" Constructive discussions have been few and far between. All this despite the fact that I don't think we were horrible in either game this season. We sure as hell weren't good enough and yes, I expect/ed better, but we definitely weren't half as bad as everyone was letting on.

Times like this always make me wonder who was really around for the first eight years of our club's history and if they really were around, how their brains were kept from melting down. If, in fact, their brains didn't melt down. We may have an entire forum full of evidence to the contrary.

I agree, it's gone a bit too far. However, if we win against Adelaide watch the attitude change dramaticaly.

Happy days. :)

Think you're on to something there. Start a new thread, make it a sticky, every week we recognise the outstanding efforts by our players. With a bit of luck, they could become aware of the threads existence and put in for a mention.

We could categorise the efforts into

Best Pass
Best Tackle (only if they get a holding the ball awarded)
Smother (any successful smother is worthy of mention)
Best Mark
Best Goal

Any negative comments in the thread should be deleted and the offender red carded.

We could do a tally and award the winner BF Freo player of the year.

Don't be miserable Lachlan. I will give you a shout and maybe catch up for a pint !

My 18 month old boy is going along this weekend for his first taste of the Purple Army !!!

I have tipped us, and that is with my head, not just my heart.

Cmon Freo !!!!!!!!!

This is not a troll - as a general rule I would say that Freo supporters are more "positive" compared to other supporters.

This is probably a good thing - but it does bread complacency.

Abit fo negativity can be a good thing - especially at a club like West Coast where supporters demand a culture of excellence from the club.

Freo need to start and build a winning culture. The fans should not settle for anything less.

Perhaps we should follow those up with some morphine sandwiches and mylanta:p;)

you could always go support the perth wildcats in the nbl

the wildcats are a mediocre team in that competition, plenty of complaints from the fans regarding that team

but at least they make the finals!
