Hey boys and girls got a recording of Neil Craigs interview on 5AA this evening if anyone wants it.. goes for a good 20 minutes and is approx. 10mb

no time to go through the main points as im in a hurry

But ill make a quick mention that mcleods name was mentioned as a potential forward target this year. Once again, Craig mentioned tippetts name first when talking about up and coming key forwards and also noted sellar as making enormous gains on the track this year..

not sure if it was worth starting a new thread but didnt know where else to put it so here u go :)

Great interview. Gave a really good insight into how he sees this year going down.

Great work on the upload, cheers

My speakers aren't working at the moment.

Can you give us a quick run down on what he had to say. Did he mention anything about Symes? Midfield structures? Forward structures?

Jimbo,

Fantastic stuff. Really appreciate you putting this on and especially so quickly. I try and listen online as much as much as possible but I was dissapointed that I missed the interview tonight. So your thread has been gold.:thumbsu:

Didn't say anything about Symes. From what i could gather Tippett, Sellar and jacky will get a reasonable amount of games. He didn't say exactly that but its just what it sounded like. Douglas sounds like hes in store for all 22 games baring injury. Forward structure, sounds like McGregor will play as a stay at home FF and he said we have to work on getting more uncontested marks inside forward 50. He didn't really say anything about midfield structure but we have 2 coaches in charge of that area now.

I think NC sounded genuinely excited about the new list and the unknown elements of our forward line (mind you he may not be so pumped if a few weeks in we aren't kicking anything). I was pleased to hear him say that he felt we would kick plenty of goals.

Well done James!! :thumbsu:

I heard it in real time and Cornesy really pissed me off debating about player empowerment for 2 to 3 minutes at the beginning and then again on some other nebulous topic at the end.

While there was a fair bit of discussion on style of play, the coaching panel, the leadership group, the captaincy etc, what they should have asked Craig about more was individual players.

betterthanu covered the players names that were mentioned other than the leadership group. I would have liked to have heard Craig's comments on a few more.

Great interview given by Craig but I was somewhat disappointed in Cornesy and KG's role in it.

Mate, I was thinking the same thing. Being a Bays man and all I used to idolise Cornsey but these days I sometimes turn him off when he speaks.

I'd like to say I'm actually glad Cornsey doesn't do much match day commentating anymore, quite frankly I found his commentating to be extremely negative most of the time.

Thank you very much James23 - much appreciated.

I would like to echo M23's comments about Cornsey and his player empowerment. To my mind it just shows why we was not as a successful a coach as he could have been. He is very limited in his outlook in certain areas and is unwilling to move with the times. It's a pity that the world seems to be passing Graham by and he is still stuck in the 70s and 80s.

I thought the question on who could make a good coach from our playing group really interesting. That he nominated Goodwin wasn't that much of a surprise but then he named Rutten as another who was very very good at analysis of the game. Now it is obvious why he has put so much faith in Truck in him leading the backlines.

The way he spoke about our forward line options was very promising.

He specifically mentioned Tippett and Sellar, and said, while he can't 100% guarantee they will be great footballers, he sounded very very confident, and given how reserved he usually is when interviewing, I'd say he has enormous confidence for those 2 players to lead our forward line at times this year.

Also the fact that he didn't mention Gill, but mentioned other older players (Macca, Porpy etc) suggest he is going to give Sellar and Tippett more game time.

The enthusiasm on Jacky is very very promising.

Great interview by Craigy, agree on the comments regarding Cornes, he still makes an assessmenr based on a 90's footy philosphy

NC certainly has declared his hand, Tippett, Sellar, Douglas, Vince and Jacky will get plenty of opportunities

If all goes to plan for these youngsters, I can't see where gill fits into the side??

Great interview by craig, really interesting and informative. I don't normally bother listening to craig as he is always so reserved, but he actually opened up a bit on his thoughts which is great.

Cornes is a goose. According to his article in the Advertiser he is one of the people who "shape" public opinion. The man has tickets on himself as an intellectual and a superior being. What a joke.
