Forgive me if this is a stupid question or it's been asked a million times, do you think Australia will eventually have access to Netflix? I ask this because I just got a 6 week free trial for Quickflix and compared to the choices of streams on Netflix, there is f all. You can get some decent stuff through post but the streaming stuff is garbage. Surely we'll get Netflix one day? Right?

Bump.

Anyone use Netflix via a VPN? The Australian Government (or a offshoot of them) released findings of a price variation report the other week and how geoblocks work by disadvantaging Australians due to our IP addresses. One of their recommendations was to go around these geoblocks with VPNs which was interesting considering the report was written by a government body.

And so I get to Netflix. Has anyone been using the US Netflix for a period of time? I have signed up today and would like others opinions on how much they use it? What is the streaming like? At the moment I am kind of searching the site for the sake of it to find something to watch, but I imagine it'll come in handy when there is nothing else on TV. We also have Austar and are looking at giving it the flick as we only really use the AFL on there due to their poor programming and repetitiveness.

But at $8 a month for unlimited streaming, its hard to go wrong. We are in the process of building a house that will be very wired up, and I'd imagine once we move in there we'll never really watch normal TV again, except for live sport.

I currently use Netflix and Hulu via Unblock Us. $20 a month. Love it. Have had to bump up my download limit though as it chews through. I'm with Telstra cable. Works a charm.

I'm running cable at home also, but over wifi. There has been a couple of times today that it stopped to buffer before continuing on.

What does Hulu offer that Netflix doesn't? I havent really looked much into them, only hear about them here and there.

Netflix is better for films, Hulu has more current tv series. Both cost $16 a month which is awesome. My ATV is connected via Ethernet, no buffering whatsoever.

I have been using netflix and hulu using my WD TV live media player and unblockus DNS.

I was paying slightly over $20 a month with all three combined, but I found some cheap 12 month gift cards on ebay (~AUD$33 Netflix and ~AUD$23 for Hulu) so the next 12 months will work out to around AUD$104....nothing in Australia comes close to that.

signed up to hulu and netflix after reading this thread. dont think ill stay with hulu after the trial period. most of the shows i am looking for are either not available or theres less episodes than are on netflix.

annoying when you search netflix for a movie and it comes up as dvd only:thumbsdown:

The day has arrived.

Signed up for the free trial but will probably cancel before the month is up as there isn't much on there yet that interests me except a few shows I watched when I was younger.

Will see how I go when the catalogue expands though .
