Excuse my intrusion on to your board, but I've just returned from a family function, where I was in discussion with other family members who had grown up in Geelong about footy.
After all the 2001GF talk, we remembered what it was like at Kardinia Park in the mid 1960's and, in all that time, we could only remember 2 losses, so the ground had a party atmosphere. We then reflected on the extraordinary players who made up that team, and we all agreed that the most memorable sight was, if the game got tight...
... Polly Farmer would rise in the centre, take the ball and handball it 20m to Billy Goggin at full pace who would kick a stab pass that never rose above waist height 30m to Doug Wade who would goal with a torpedo punt from any angle 40m out.
We all felt privileged to have those memories.
Anyone else remember that ?
