With pick 17, Adelaide select...

Todd Grima from the Northern Bombers.

You serious, I dont rate him at all, what about Varcoe or McKinley etc?

Believe me, it was a very touch decision. However, after thinking about it:

- Watts's departure has lowered our KP stocks.
- Welsh is on the wrong side of the age scale.
- Chad Gibson is ages away and not proven.
- Grima is well-rounded player who performed very well in both the Champs and his TAC Cup invitational matches.

Controversial I know.

Fair enough, but there are other KPP players you could get before Grima. Obst is the obvious candidate who can play FF/FB quite well. Then there are a few more McKinley, Spanger etc. Just cant see why Grima is better than a few others.

#23

Collingwood select Richard Douglas

Figured I'd round out a young midfield from this draft alone with an inside player.

Obst and Spangher are more suited to Key Defensive roles.

I needed a FF/CHF and every time I've seen Grima I've been impressed by him.

I somewhat doubt this would happen on draft day, but neither did I expect Bower to be picked up at no.3, Ryder to last till no.13 and Pfeiffer to slip to no.16.

Although I doubt Bower at #3, Ryder could end up slipping on draft day if clubs aren't convinced of his ability to play KP effectively.

I don't think Pfeiffer "slipping" to #16 is that much of a stretch.

I rate Pfeiffer highly and reckon he will go top 12 or 13. I have a small concern that he's better on a HFF or HBF, but his package of size, strength, pace, skill and toughness really interests me.

I couldn't believe that he lasted to pick 16 in this draft.
