Hi guys, just wanted to comment on on the multicultural centre partnership. I think this has the potential to be a hugely positive venture for the Lions and footy in the greater Brisbane area, it's a fantastic way to introduce our national sport to those new to our country. And introduce a huge potential membership market giving publicity to the club/ code in a landscape (seq) where footy doesn't receive much media attention. For those interested (I noted an earlier mention of nmfc project) have a look at the community project North run called the Huddle. It's a fantastic program.

Not sure, but if i had to hazard a guess, I would say it is some sort of facility located in a central position.
Migrants can come to the facility to get partnered up???

Support services, community spaces and the like as well.

This thread is now a runaway success.
Good question, just don't ask it too loudly.

Perhaps we can turn it into a new academy for athletic Sudanese refugees.

Ambassador, new Lions recruit Majak Daw. (based on the HS this morning, he's a target)

Meanwhile at Hawthorn, they found $30m...

They've done so well that instead of building a training base at an airport, they're going to build an airport at their training base.... well almost.

They haven't found it yet, thats just an estimate on the build. Still there's no doubt that they will get the funds from govt and council and their own accumulated cash accounts. Hence putting a deposit down before any funding is committed. Interesting that its a former landfill site. Must be fairly old one then. usually if you're looking at building an actual building on a landfill site about 30 years tends to be the timeframe after closure.

Would be good for us if the leachate started to percolate into their groundwater... we might have a chance to finally defeat the Hawks if half their team is out sick. Seriously though, I'm fed up with the Hawks and their never ending supply of cash.... We can't even string together 3 mill yet they can blow 30 mill on their own airport...

I know where they get their money, from their pokies!......have been there a few times, and have NEVER done any good. They keep ALL of it for themselves.

..on the other hand, I have been to Richmonds club, have come out even or in front most times.:)

On the landfill bit, I think that section has been closed for quite a long time now. There is still an open landfill thats still open to the north of there but there is a fair bit of land in the area that will be reclaimed in the next 10-20 years. Hawks are doing very well to grab a big site. As above the Waverly site is fine its just a bit small. They packed the houses in pretty close to the one oval and they have issues with privacy (almost impossible for them to have closed sessions). Other clubs are finding it very advantageous to have multiple grounds (of differing sizes) so think that is a good idea for them

Ross Thornton, at a Fitzroy Historical function at Etihad at the start of the season, said it would be the airport, and that the afl needed to grant 5 million which they would do after the next rights agreement. .in the meantime footy in the north disappears before their blinkered eyes.

Swans chairman Andrew Pridham noted the Swans' academy had 24 indigenous players, about four per cent of its total amount.

He said an indigenous academy would be housed alongside the broader Swans academy in the planned $40 million training facility to be built in the Moore Park precinct

WTF? Are we the only paupers in the realm?

Airport was never gonna to happen I was told. ;)

Not within standard league and government funding arrangements. We're very fortunate to find a partner.

the teams getting new facilities seem to be having a 30-50 million dollar spend. hopefully ours is around this number as well and not the reported 15 million or should we be grateful for what we get?
