With the imminent announcement soon of a number of people set to challenge our inept board, I just hope that they are not full of hype and empty promises. The names being bandied around have some clout, and lets just hope that they use this to get our club moving along and not just push their own barrow. Interesting times ahead

I'm glad that there is going to be a viable alternative. Some of the actions of this current board have been shockers and even though I was pleasantly surprised by their good handling of the situation over trade week and the new assistant coachs appointed. I have no loyalty to this board and if a new board promises money and looks to be better managers and more capable of running the footy club then I will undoubtedly support them over the current lot.

What will be interesting is how a new board handles the Pagan situation. Frankly, I believe that Pagan should have been sacked in September but I don't think theres much use in sacking the coach in December or January when lists have been finalised and pre season is well under way. Interesting times indeed.

Well it's been getting a big build-up by THS for weeks now. No details or committments, just a lot of "soon now"s. We'll see. It's starting to sound like the salesman's wedding night promises.

As I've said elsewhere, I think the current board has done a reasonable job in trying circumstances and with limited resources. I've also said that if an alternative comes along with a cheque for $8M & on-going backing but the price is that the current board goes, then as far as I'm concerned it's "so long, and thanks for all the effort". It's not the management, it's the resources. But until I see the money, the current board has my support.

Any alternative will have to accomodate Sticks, as no member will ever vote against him, and as far as I'm concerned, just so long as Pagan is in the seat for 2007. By all means seriously look at the coaching position at the end of next season, but not before.

Yeah i agree completely, i think with the job they have done since the end of the season we need to give them our full support at least until the end of next year, same with Pagan, i think now that he is using a more attacking game plan our team has improved a lot over the last 9 months and is just starting to come together as a team, we have just cleaned out most of the deadwood that we were forced to recruit and with the new players coming in we should see a bit more depth start to appear in our list and make some big steps forward next year. Now is the time for some stability not more upheavel and change. Money talks bullshiit walks.:thumbsu:

Actually, it is the management. They've had plenty of time to put something positive in place and done bugger all.

And why should Sticks be on the new board? Sure, great footballer and a great Carlton guy - so make him a liason officer or an assistant coach or something. He's been on two failed boards now and been on the board continually during the worst period in the clubs history, on and off-field. I see no reason to retain someone who isn't up to the job, regardless of how good a footballer they were in their day.

Who is responsible for this worst period in the club's history? Those that have been on the board for the last 4 years or their predecessors? How were the board supposed to overcome the $12 million debt left by John Elliott's administration & the woeful playing list left behind by Parkin/Brittain?

Our debt is down to around $6 million & we finally have some quality kids on our playing list. It is not as if those that have been at the club for the last 4 years have been sitting on their hands, they have been working with the limited financial resources & extremely limited playing list that the club has had at its disposal.

Where were the cashed up, white knights 4 years ago, when the hard work was first beginning? I suspect some were fearful of the business backlash that they may suffer from being seen to support the demise of Elliott. Much better to put your hand up now when you can't be accused of white-anting Elliott. Don't get me wrong, I welcome anyone that is prepared to put their hard-earned on the line, but why sit back & watch the misery of the last 4 years. Of course now there are people queueing up to get involved because a lot of the hard work & the worst on field performances are behind the club. Whoever is at the helm over the next 3-5 years is going to reap the rewards of the hard work done by those working at the club from 2002-2006 & will most likely take all the credit.

If you truly believe that, you will welcome the West Sydney Blues then ?

the AFL is bending us over, we are a joke off the field. PR is terrible. Coach is past it. No future if we keep going as we are.

We need to be able to be self sufficient then self reliant then a powerhouse that soaks up all the sponsorship dollars that is currently pumped in the the Filth.

Bring it on, sooner rather than later.

Spot on. Just the same, if someone cashes the club up I'd hold my nose and vote for them.
