ok, thinking outside the box or just being stupid, you decide

A: a team that has real depth, like we seem to now..... should we manage players by resting them more often. we don't have substitution like other sports, so is it worth looking into a model where we have a rolling best 26 or 30? we would set targets to limit players to say 18 h&a games or set a minimum 6-8 games for players 22-30. would this strategy have meant we played an injured dusty less in the closing stages of last year? would this strategy have meant we played more games with balta, markov, ccj, garthwaite, moore or towner? would a shift from best 22 available to a resource management style help or hinder?

B: pre-season. currently the training is managed somewhat due to the age of players but the team is set to be right at round 1 and then managed thru the year. what would a model where say a third of the team is set to peak rd 1, a 3rd rd 6 and a 3rd rd 12? could this approach create more even performances throughout the year and leave us fresher for the finals?

a related note, enforced breaks due to suspension have a similar effect to both ideas, consider how fresh bachar was after his 4 week holiday for whacking jed lamb

yes...yes...yes...needs to be explored more!

Also YES, Roachee. A is far better approach, as 'imo' i think the B has been semi tried and created to much gap or ''drop off'' of consistent Team form. Cheers.

In theory yes. But too many changes can upset the balance of the team. It can also make players feel unloved because they are dropped when playing well.

If managed carefully then all good. But just be careful that in managing playing time you don't negatively impact the team's balance, mojo and culture.
