new ps3????

First off GT5 will have DOUBLE and then some the amount of cars Forza 3 has.

Once you hit 400 cars, another 400 doesn't really make much difference. I would take 60 extra tracks over 400 cars any day.

"Scratched paint?" You obviously haven't seen the video's and I HIGHLY doubt it will be just 170 cars that have damage. 170 hasn't been confirmed and it will likely be the wrong number. Most likely to be well over 400+ too.

I had seen most of the videos, and the damage and crash physics look feeble. Last video in the GT5 thread for example, why could you not see any damage to the bonnet from the cockpit view, but on the replay you can?

And the 170 number has been thrown around all over the net, I'm not sure what you're basing this 'most likely 400+' on but your own wishful thinking?

AI has already been stated as being a major improvement in GT5.

We'll see I guess.

Already been confirmed numerous times that GT5 will have AT LEAST 80 tracks/courses.

Maple Valley, Maple Valley backwards, Maple Valley at night does not equal 3 tracks.

LOL, oh wow, if only GT5 could be that good...oh wait it is and also BLOWS FORZA 3 OUT OF THE WATER GRAPHICALLY.

Hahaha even Borgsta has potted you for this one. Explain how?

Also the WRC and NASCAR licenses which instantly adds so much more variety to the game, as well as extra cars, tracks, driving styles.

Couple of licences to try to prop up a game that has run it's course. Forza does racing simulation better, and faster. Racing NASCARs around an oval for 100 laps, awesome.

this is a little off topic but I don't know where else to put it. I have been offered a used PS3 for $350. It's a 40gb version which has been upgraded to 250GB. The guy selling is a friend of a friend, he says he's hardly used it (I saw it today and it looks like he's hardly touched it let alone used it)

Is this a good deal? I've heard that the 40 gig versions may be less reliable and use more energy, any truth to that?

i'd say buy a brand new one for like 50 dollars more...with the recent price drop you'd be crazy to buy is second hand for that price without any warranty for peace of mind

there's no chance i'd buy it second hand for anything over $200 (regardless of hard drive size)

The only thing that is certain about the GT5 vs FM3 debate is that GT5 will be far superior in the graphics department. That's a fact.

Other than that, nothing else has been confirmed apart from a handful of cars and tracks.

KY also said that the damage from GamesCom was their first implementation, so you can expect some improvements before the final game releases.

Nobody knows how many tracks, cars, cars with damage or any other features that will be present in GT5, so this argument is going no where.

Nothing it was just hilarious reading both of your comments. Making outlandish claims that you have no idea about because you are both fanboys.

Stuff like

is magic. Has a trailer even been released for GT5 this year? The gameplay comments also made me laugh.
HAVE YOU ACTUALLY SEEN ANYTHING? Take a look at the GT5 thread. News AND gameplay footage.

Most of what is being argued is based on the only facts that are out there right now BTW.

Anyone who argues that Forza 3 looks BETTER than GT5 is blind, that is simply fact. GT5 will look better than Forza 3, whether it plays better will have to be found out at release.
Once you hit 400 cars, another 400 doesn't really make much difference. I would take 60 extra tracks over 400 cars any day.
LOL, so nowadays MOAR is less? You'll be getting probably at most around 20 extra tracks with Forza 3. While GT5 will be getting around 600 more cars. I think every person in their right mind would take 600 more cars than 20 extra tracks (If it even ends up being that, more than likely will be around even anyway).
I had seen most of the videos, and the damage and crash physics look feeble. Last video in the GT5 thread for example, why could you not see any damage to the bonnet from the cockpit view, but on the replay you can?
I'm guessing that's because at that moment there was no damage? As the developer himself has said that was the first implementation of damage and it will have been far improved since then.
And the 170 number has been thrown around all over the net, I'm not sure what you're basing this 'most likely 400+' on but your own wishful thinking?
170 was thrown around from awfully loose translations. It has been said by the translators themselves that it could mean one thing or another.
We'll see I guess.
Guess we will.
Maple Valley, Maple Valley backwards, Maple Valley at night does not equal 3 tracks.
I doubt that the night one would count. But facts are you're still racing differently and in different conditions (Where dynamic weather can play a huge part) it all but equals a different track.

Regardless there will still be more than 20 tracks as it has already been stated as being AT LEAST 80, what that means in terms of actual track numbers who knows, but there will be at least 80 combo's.
Hahaha even Borgsta has potted you for this one. Explain how?
Please tell me you don't really think Forza 3 looks better than GT5? Forza 3 looks good, but is no where near GT5 in graphical capability.

It's still adding MORE to a game, how can you argue against more? It might not be everyone's thing but facts are NASCAR and WRC is in GT5 and not in Forza 3. Again I know which one I'd rather.

We can't really argue which game will have the better gameplay just yet as one thing for sure with GT5 is that it will be different to Concept and Prologue, this has been confirmed by numerous people who have played the game. You might think Forza 3 will do it better but until both are released that is very hard to prove.

some may argue that i'm not in my right mind but i'd rather 20 tracks over 600 cars

i mean who will race with more than 150 diff cars anyways?
everybody has their favorites and will use them and just muck around with the others

i mean i think gt5 will be the better end game but more variation in tracks>datsun sunny, bluebird blah blah any 'ol car

Don't know much with second hand PS3s, or the 40gig versions, but if it helps at all, I have a 60gig PS3 (launch model, prior to the 40gig versions) and haven't had any problems at all with that. I use it pretty frequently too - probably have it on at least every 2-3 days or so - every day when I get a new game. Not sure with the energy usage sorry.

It does make me question a bit, why he has upgraded it, if he's hardly used it though. Mine is 60gig, and I have about 20 PSN games, plus about 100 rock band songs downloaded to the hard drive, and most of my game addons & updates for the disc games (about 25-30 games). Although I can't fit much more on there (no demos, movies etc), and two disc games which required large installs (5gig+) and I don't play much anyone, I've removed the install to make some room. I'm also wanting to upgrade mine at the moment. Anyway, it just makes me wonder if he has used it a bit before.

Personally for $350, I'd probably just pay extra and get a new one for $400, just for piece of mind. If it were $250 or something, I'd probably buy it. But maybe that's just me. For an extra $50 though, at least if you have any problems with a new one, it should be covered by the warranty for a little while, plus with the newer PS3s hard drive (old model 80gig or slim 120gig), it should be big enough to last for a little while.

thanks for the replies guys. It's good advice but I bought it anyway :o. He dropped the price to 300 and I buckled lol. Oh well the PS3 only has a 3% failure rate, doesn't it?

It's not necessarily what car YOU choose though. It's what your opponents choose as well and the vast differences you can get in competition.

Online will be the biggest exponent of this. Especially when you can have double the amount of players than in Forza 3.

I still have a feeling GT5 will have just as many tracks anyway.

I agree.

In GT4, there were nearly 50 Nissan Skylines (around 8% of all of the cars) and about 40 of them were pieces of shit.

PD will almost certainly be releasing downloadable content, and if GT5P if anything to go by, it will be free.

yeh but they would all have to be extreme high end cars worth racing online to make what you say valid....since nobody is going to race a hyundai against a porsche.

and since these types of games are nothing without the top end cars they are basically just normal expected cars......

the "filler" cars which are the extra 600 or whatever i doubt will even be used... like datsuns or whatever (just average/rubbish cars)

i mean sure there will probably be a few extra awesome cars (hopefully they have a bugatti veyron) but i don't think it's as important as such a large amount of extra tracks.....

mind you...
i'm pretty sure NONE of us in here know the number of tracks so it could very well be in gt5's favor but i don't want to get deep into a debate about it.....tis only my opinion

I agree to an extent. But it's not like all 600 extra cars are going to just be fillers. When you also add in the extra licenses it will add a greater variety of cars and racing too.

The best driving simulator this generation doesn't even have damage.

I see very little difference. Can you tell us the differences, and how GT 5 is so AWESOMELY AMAZING GRAPHICALLY!!

Do you know how naive and fanboyish you sound?

The difference is easily there for those who AREN'T blind.

I've already said Forza 3 looks good, but it is still way out of Gran Turismo 5's league.

A few big differences I can notice are the textures, such as road and environment textures being far higher res and more fulfilled on GT5. Environments in Forza 3 look very cartoony and fake (IMO).

Forza 3's cars also look a bit over saturated in the colour department making them look unrealistic and far too vibrant, not to mention WAYYYYYYY too glossy which really looks poor. GT5's are a lot more real in their look, smoother, cleaner and more realistic. It makes Forza 3 look cartoony where GT5 looks, well real.

Got any images to compare at least? Sounds like all your opinion, which we know ain't worth pissing on.

Considering that GT5P looks better than Forza 3, we can safely assume that GT5 will also look better.

But as I said, who cares?

They both look amazing when the processing power of both consoles are considered.

erm...those screenshots you poste din the other thread?

Yeah, Forza 3 looks waaaay better than GT5P.
I'd agree with the car looking worse in that GT5P pic. But everything else is about the same.

And from what has been shown of GT5 the cars look a lot better now.:)

I'm not saying anything about GT5 compared to Forza 3, but at least the car is definitely better than GT5P.
