This is a thread for assesing our New players in the match against Carlton, for me I thought Jetta and Mcglynn were the best with Rohan putting in a good contribution as well. This is my rating of them
Jetta: Just superb. A Gun in the making. Almost definite 1st Rnd starter you would think.
Mcglynn: Very Good Performance just a couple of loose kicks but all in all was hard over the ball and thank you hawks!
Rohan: Did everything we wanted him to do, kicked a nice goal and great signs for the future.
TDL: Seemed a bit subdued but tried hard and did some nice things looks to be a good get, expect him to play Rnd 1.
Seaby: A reasonable performance was solid got a few hitouts and was calm under pressure. He set up a set shot for Malceski, in which I think he showed good composure.
Kennedy: Didn't see a whole lot of him but he showed good signs, he should be in the 22 for Rnd 1.
Sumner: Played well has a great kick and some pace which should suit us well. Will most likely not play in 2010 but look for him in 2011 to become a good player.
Your Thoughts?

Agree with everything both have posted so far. Jetta and Rohan particularly impressed me. Rohans first tackle was damn awesome bone crunching. And Jetta with his arrogant 3 bounce 9 point goal. Woohoo lets go Swannies. I am really excited for 2010

As a side I really think Seaby need some bigger clothes. Those shorts were far too tight on him.

Jetta: looked fantastic, quick, good disposal and great kick for goal, put on a few nice tackles and just his pressure was great. Will be a brilliant addition, so exciting.

TDL: pretty quiet, had a few opportunities but was just off the pace each time. Was willing enough though and his goal was a lovely kick. Will play well in one of the next few games i feel.

Rohan: controlled agression, tough tackling, so quick, great kicks, a few shoddy disposals like the hospital handball to Jetta, but really exciting performance. He is a lot bigger than i expected him to be and will only get bigger and stronger. Gonna be a beauty

Sumner: only played the 2nd half and didnt see much of the pill. Hard to judge really. Hopefully gets some more time next week.

Seaby: I liked his game, solid without being spectacular, but did ok in the ruck duel and got around the park pretty well. 11 touches and 15 H/O's, solid display.

Kennedy: not bad, what he did he did well, but didnt see a lot of it, played a bit in the centre and from HF and looked strong and willing at the ball and laid some solid tackles. Will be a good addition to our midfield.

McGlynn: great performance, made a few mistakes but hard at the ball and the man, kicks goal, finds the ball and disposed of the ball well, he is a bargain buy for us and will be great value.

Can Gary Rohan become the new Barry Hall with more controlled aggression though? Could he play out of the goalsquare and Jesse White out at Centre Half-Forward, when Daniel Bradshaw and Adam Goodes retire?

standouts were obviously Jetta (Super Freak) and McGlynn (one of the biggest trade coups of the year)

the rest were solid, can't be dissapointed in any of the recruits..... Rohan (was fairly impressive), Sumner (only saw late action, but he used the ball quite well), Kennedy (same as Sumner), Seaby (wasn't nearly as bad as people have been making out, pretty good game) and TDL (was pretty solid, got double teamed on occasions, will be better when the tall timbers are back in the side)

overall the match highlighted what an incredible off-season we had, bring on 2010

He's a superfreak alright glad we picked him

Jetta has already shown his hand, and done exactly the thing that we desperately need. His kicking ability is way beyond what I expected - huge bombs.

Rohan showed heaps of potential.

These 2 potentially may be our best first year player duo since Micky O and S Grant.

Pretty much agree.

Jetta was spectacular!

Rohan, McGlynn and Seaby put in solid efforts. Think Seaby played better than what we expected him to. Can't argue there.

TDL should get a chance to impress early on in the season if Bradshaw misses. Don't think he's a walk up start though.

Kennedy and Sumner i didn't really see much of them during the game.

Great to see we'll have some really strong competition for spots amongst the youngsters with players like Veszpremi, Meredith, Hannebery and a couple of others looking to come into the team.

Jetta - has been covered in our talking already.

McGlynn - Top performance and took the game early. Won hard ball and laid tackles and used it well. The mistakes are to be expected of a player still adjusting to his new team *Craig Bolton took a few weeks to adapt to thje swans but than wow*

Rohan - Superb attack on the ball and he won a few free kicks because he was putting his body and head on the line. Great run and tackle on Jospeh early - maybe he is edging closer to a senior game.

Seaby - He's not Jolly so dont expect him to play the same role. He played well enough, did the lion share of the ruck work and won his share of hit outs than he lost to a young Carlton ruck brigade that has been talked up.

Sumner - came on very late and never had time or opportunity, maybe next week.

Kennedy - I put my hand up to be Corps first kicking of the year. below par. But as I noted about McGlynn it can take a few games to adjust to new team and he didn't get the same full pre season. He was beaten to the ball and in scraps tonight until occasionally turned up with a nice piece of play to suggest more on offer. Lets see him lift next week.

TDL - Busy, did not see much of the ball but was effectively asked to play full forward, a role he was not ready for even in a NAB cup match. Work rate in the first half looked good though.

-After all the pre-season hype on TDL i expected him to be a gun. He was Solid
-Could not tell the difference of Jetta, TDL and Sumner.
-McGlynn is hard at it but makes some bad decisions

My main man from Hawthorn will go alright. He played well for Hawthorn last year. He'll come good, only 21, which is only an upside for us. :D

I thought Jetta, McGlynn and Rohan were the stand outs out of the new recruits. Jetta is going to break some games open, with his pace this year across half forward.

Jetta looked great and his kicking skills are elite a definite player for the swans, as opposed to Yarran's disposal which was shocking.

Didn't notice Sumner all night... Jetta, TDL and Rohan I saw a lot more of sitting right behind the goals! Also was right in front of Yarran's two absolute shocking misses so that was fun. :thumbsu:

I don't think he came on until the last quarter (as a sub). Possibly the third quarter, but he definitely wasn't out there earlier. Didn't get much opportunity as a result.
