This morning's 3aw rumour file said that Nissan will soon (by the end of this week) be announced as the new RFC major sponsor

Great news for the Tigers, as Nissan are a car company still travelling well, and have plenty of cash to inject into the club coffers

They understand the fantastic marketing opportunities presented by the Tigers. With a guaranteed Tigers finals appearance in 2009, Nissan will surely get great value for money aligning themselves with Richmond.

So exciting to see this Tiger resurgence now in full swing, and everyone wants to align themselves with the new future footballing force.

Well done to TW and his team for instigating this magnificient rebirth of the Tigers using a wonderful 5 year plan destined to be successful :thumbsu:

Arent Nissan our new shorts sponsor??

Would be strange to see them do an upgrade but it would be welcomed. :thumbsu:

Yep, looking like its a done deal. They were always in the picture, if the AIG deal went the way it should've, I think Nissan would've still been the shorts sponsor.

What info do you have that makes it look like it's a "done deal", Cotch?

I hope you're on the money. :thumbsu:

This was always going to be on the cards.

Approach a company that is already sponsoring us, ask them to pay a little bit more to upgrade and we end up looking legitimate again.

Only problem is we will effectively need to find another minor sponsor to take up the slack.

All the car companies are in strife (some more than others). I'll be pleasantly surprised if this is a mega $ deal given the economy. If you ask me it's a mates rates deal until we can find a better sponsor next year.

Quiksilver hopefully.

Haha.....classic!
Anymore syrup and my blood/sugar numbers will be shot.

Sass...are you a happy bot on E?

Would be very surprised to see a company that has cleverly marketed itself into a certain demographic go and associate itself with a football club (with the exception of the Torquay Tigers).

Unless Quiksilver start making football shorts, i'd be very surprised if they sponsored us.

We would have more of a chance with CUB (who already sponsor us). Esso still sponsor us, and market themselves with a Tiger logo overseas. Unfortunately the Esso brand is defunct in Australia (all Esso servos are now Mobil).

Until this global mess starts sorting itself out we are going to be hard pressed to attract sponsors. Sad but true.

And the owner of 'Piping Hot' is a mad St.Kilda supporter.

So td, are u saying i shouldn't get a new jumper for next season?

Anyway, I would like nissan to become our co-major sponsor.

I thought Dick Smith was already on our new jumpers, with a better shade of yellow :)

Wasn't our old prez Leon Daphne a big player at Nissan Australia or something?

Or am i thinking of someone else?

Yeah, he was president of Nissan Australia. IIRC, he was president when they closed down manufacturing on Nissans in Aus, which did not go down to well...

Yeah they are but this sponsor will replace AFG on the back of the jumper. AHH well i will still get one this year when they come out:) and if need be i'll get another one next year:)

Nissan Tigers. I love it.

Nissan make the best engines in the world for the price. A GTR 2009 is on par with an Enzo Ferrari in terms of speed. Pretty bloody amazing when you think one costs only 80K and the other a couple of hundred $K.

My business is closely aligned to the motor trade........... and if Nissan (or any other motor vehicle company) has one cent for sponsorship within 6 months I'll stand stuffed in Punt Rd

With Peter S selling the Tigers name. We could have the biggest sponsor in the AFL.

Can't wait to buy my tickets to Melbourne to see you at Punt Road

I reckon you're awfuilly close to the mark, if I was tiger management Id be happy with 500k under the current circumstances...1-2 year deal to ride us thru stormy weather and then re-enter the market under improved conditions:thumbsu:

LMAO @ comparing a nissan with a ferrari. :thumbsu:

What about if the tiges take a leaf out of Hawthorn (Tassie) or even now with the blues (Malaysia) to expand outside the square... i think it would be a great marketing appraisel
