I wondered how folks think they may affect us.

I don't think the increase to 15m will be much of a change but allowing the kicker after a behind to run the ball may mean that fast or evasive kickers will be used. If a FF is on the mark of the kick in then depending who it is the kicker will evade him. Top choices would be the likes of Plugger or Scotty who could be bypassed easily. At the other end that goes for BB too. So maybe the FF will need to drop back to the 50 and a tagger put on the kicker. Libba would have been ideal but then again a bigger kicker may ride his tackle or a faster one evade him.

It opens up many possibilities with coaches having to decide who goes to the mark depending upon the kicker.

I fancy Wirra and Cuz as having great potential at kick ins. And if they can run 50m and kick then the ball clears the 50m arc by 20m.....awesome.
What about Haynes??? He kicks over 60m anyhow so could get it over the half way line potentially.

Wirra (if fit) would be fantastic at the kick-ins - in fact he might even be able to score a couple of goals from kick-ins by running to the other 50 without anyone tackling him.

When I read the new rules on the AFL board and Demetriou's comments, I thought that it wouldn't have much effect on us - mostly was just tidying up a few loose ends. I was surprised last year when we didn't try Cox & Gardy in the centre bouncedowns at the same time for a bit of variation, but you're not allowed to do that any more.

Yeah no doubt Wirrpunda...other possibilities would be Peter Matera, he's still pretty quick and has great skills off both sides or someone like Haynes who could run 5 or 10 metres and then just unload a 60 metre bomb..

Josh Wooden came good during the last season, but I can't help but think he along with Prior only have this season to prove themselves to the club

Nah that was Nick Stone  WHAT A DUD!!

A Ncik Stone plays for Collingwood now. Come to think of it, they also have a Michael Gardiner on their list, and are coached by Malthouse and have an assistant who used to play for the eagles and now picked up Cummings......anyone see a pattern there?

Eagles wannabe's :D

You always have been allowed to play on from a kick in, as long as you kick it to yourself. They're just going back to the old rule where you can kick it to yourself and catch it inside the goal square instead of outside the goal square. Playing on without kicking to to yourself will still result with a bounce on the kickoff line.
