I for one am a fan of houseparties for NYE. I have never gone out to town, or any other venue for NYE, and I don't plan on doing so any time soon. I think it is a night best shared with your best friends, and maybe some acquaintances, with whom you may have some chance of hooking in with come midnight. I just don't see the attraction of going into town. It would end up being like every other night in town, which i don't find that exciting anyway.

This year my mate who lives around the corner from me is having a party at his place. Should be 20-25 people there, most i will know, some i wont. Hawaiian/beach theme, so will hopefully get to see a bit of skin for free.

Can't wait!

What is everyone else up to?

My mates are trying to organise a mass party in the country. Thinking it would be pretty funny actually. Could be a good NYE for once.

They'd better hop to it KingsCrow, it's only 20 odd days away.

Agree with the OP, houseparties is the way to go come NYE, however the last 2 houseparties have been shockers. Will probably go to a house party again and hoping for third time lucky, but wont know my plans until a few days before.

Last house party I had was a shocker too; last NYE it was supposed to be at a mates place, organised first week of December. The afternoon of the 30th he emails everyone to say the party is still on, but we have to be out of his place by 9pm so he and his girlfriend could attend a church service. Emergency shift to my place, really didn't turn out all that well.

Suffice to say, I've only spoken to that "mate" once this year.

Looks like another house party this year - better one, a street back from the beach at Brighton with a much more reliable host, followed by wandering down to the bay to mingle. Good times :thumbsu:

Yeah I don't see the attraction of going to town on the busiest night of the year where it takes you too long to flag down a taxi at 3am to get home. Apparently they are putting on extra taxis this year to take the total amount to about 1000 taxi's. From memory 50,000 people go to Glenelg each year as well. I went once, I lost all my friends and ended up an hour drive from home :(

Anyway, just a quiet one looking after my parents place with my gf and a few mates. Should be good hehe.

NYE is the most over rated night on the social calender, getting a taxi is near impossible, pubs and clubs up their cover charge, its hard to get a drink. House parties all the way for mine.

This year we are taking it pretty easy, eskies and cricket bats down the beach in the arvo then back up to my place to kick on there, but not go too *******, thats the plan anyway.

House party with 5-15 mates is the only way to go. Everything else is a head ****, a disappointment and a waste of time.

Probably playing Wii at a house party in Tasmania.

They got that in Tasmania now?

:D

Going down to Rosebud beach with mates, hired out a 15 sleeper house for a week.

Different themed part for every night, a no pants party night, cocktail night, **** the police night (which entails various fun objectives), with NYE just being a crazy all in mofo party, be the 15 week longers plus mates down for the night (30 total) plus any randoms we invite during the week.

My night always ends up the same, drink outside with mates while listning to Zeppelin.

Mannum is usually an awesome NYE ... at the always sensational Pretoria! Always a couple of randy ****s at the bar or on the dancefloor looking for someone to cling to come midnite.

Unfortunately got in too late to get accommodation there this year so may celebrate at the Monkey House instead.

Nothing wrong with going to town for NYE ... add 5 drinks to and times by 5 the usual amount of lushes and your odds increase exponentially ... of course tho so does the amount of guys ha ha.
