Yeah, he's what you'd call a "high achiever", being the youngest director in the US of this major international accounting firm (PwC). Doing very nicely is that lad. His American GF works in tv there too.

Enjoy anyway peejay. I've been there a million times and love the place. Very envious of anyone who's about to spend the entire Spring/Summer there.

Thanks Twink - been here a few times myself but never for this length of time.

Cheers.

OK - question for guy who knows how to tip. I went to the corner bistro in west village which in essence is a bar that serves food ( you might know it). Walked in, sat down, guy came over - he was the sort oder cook come waiter ( in his 60's - love this place). I ordered lunch and abeer from him and he brought it all over. Bill came to $13.50. So is the tip approx 20% of this plus a buck for the beer ? or just the approx 20% and no tip for the bar as the ber ws not ordered there.

It real important i get this right has i want this place to become a regular.

Ok. If you're drinking at a bar (as opposed to eating), then tip a dollar for each drink you buy.

If you're eating, then you double the tax on your total bill, including food and drinks. In NYC, I think tax at restaurants is around 8.375%, so doubling that is 16.75%. Some New Yorkers will pay 15% and some will pay up to 20%, but unless you have a calculator, sometimes just doubling the tip is the simplest way. If you're tipping on your total bill (like it sounds you were), then adding a dollar for the drink would be tipping for the drink twice.

I've been to corner bistro a couple of times and their hamburgers are great. Benny's Burritos around the corner from there is pretty good too. If you go to Benny's, make sure you try a "Mexican Bulldog", it's $7.50 for a frozen margarita, shot of tequila and a bottle of corona upside down in the top of it all. Their burritos aren't bad either!
