What the police chief would – and wouldn’t – confirm​

Dezi Freeman confronted police officers after hours of tense negotiation wrapped in a doona holding a gun. “That is my understanding,” Victoria Police Chief Commissioner Mike Bush told reporters this morning.

Bush said police were also exploring reports that the gun in question was one of the firearms Freeman took from officers during his deadly shootout in Porepunkah seven months ago.

The shootout unfolded earlier this morning, and Bush said from what he knew so far officers were justified in shooting the man dead. “There was an opportunity for him to surrender peacefully, which he did not.”

But Bush would not confirm if a tip-off from Freeman’s associates helped police zero in on the property, and said detectives were still investigating connections between the owners of the property in Walwa and Freeman.

“We’re only hours into this investigation,” he said. “We believe it is Freeman but we have to go through a formal identification process,” he said. The families of the slain officers had also been told of the developments, he added.

Simple fact is it would have been a massive operational failure had this blokes actions been allowed to injure another serving officer a 2nd time especially as they are now completely aware what he was capable of.

Rightly so they excercised appropriate caution. If he wasnt going to give himself up in 2 hours of negotiations this is the obvious conclusion.

Dunno about Trump, he's actually a decent dad and has banged super models for years, I can't imagine he'd have any interest in kids.

But I'm happy to call it Bill Clinton/Bill Gates/Stephen Hawking-like. I think that's fair.

Bill has had to snuggle up to
Hilary for 50 years, I'd suggest he has more reason to step out. Melania is still pretty hot for an older woman!
