Heard they have ruled out ACL but it may be PCL. The scan tomorrow will give them more info.

Give him the rest of the season off to get it right and blood some youngsters, it's not as if we are going to make the finals.

Worst thing was that Newman's injury only happened because of a terrible kick out of defence. He had been fantastic in the first 10 minutes.

Fevola has spoken to him and tweeted that he is having scans tommorrow as already mentioned but expecting a couple of weeks on the sidelines.

Hope scans reveal nothing more than that.

Fevola is best source for Richmond information (and Steven Bakers life if you are interested) now that Richmond boys dont seem to be posting since Gold Coast game.

Knee injury hampers Newman

“At this stage, it is difficult to put an exact time frame on how long Chris will be on the sidelines, but we’re hopeful he will be available for the last portion of the season,” said Richmond Football Manager Ross Monaghan.

Cotchin can fill in as Captain adequetely enough

Newy was fantastic the first 10 minutes and then Thursfield's shitty nothing kick set him up for a PLC:(

SEN reporting it's a posterior cruciate and he's out for the rest of the season.

Interesting...

Looks like SEN were wrong as usual. :o

PS.

I have Newman in my supercoach side too. Hurry the #$@@$ up and come back Newman. LOL!

Actually, SEN simply had a medical guy on saying that the worst case scenario was a ruptured PCL, which would be season ending.

I'm not a Richmond supporter and am doing research for obvious reasons.

However, a PCL tear is 2-8 weeks but a PCL rupture is 6months-12 months.

The article suggest it's a PCL strain? What the heck is that?

I would assume it's something like over-stretching it, but without causing any actual damage.

EDIT:
Sprain and Strain Symptoms and Treatment
A strain is an injury to either a muscle or a tendon, the tissue that connects muscles to bones. Depending on the severity of the injury, a strain may be a simple overstretch of the muscle or tendon, or it can result in a partial or complete tear.

I reckon it would be silly to bring him back this season due to possible reinjury. I would say put him on ice so he can be nice and fit come next year.
