Should we try some different things with at least one of them?

I was thinking chuck one into our Forward line for a few reasons:

1 - Give them a break of constantly being under the pump in defence
2 - Their pressure up Forward would be good, teams rebound out of our F50 too easy
3 - Raines wouldn't be turning it over, his first instinct should be to kick a goal or pass it off, not take them on.

Thoughts?

Chrissy Newman has fitted back into his spot in this side well so I wouldn't change him because he oozzys class rebounding and help chip into help out JB but I'm up for moving Raines, but no to the foward line. The bloke has only kicked one goal in his career. Definatly more fitted to be a backman/midfielder

agree wholeheartedly chris newman has to become more than just a back pocket player. all of our smalls mediums should be able to rotate thru midfield. players like casserly jon white should be playing back now while your raines bowdens newmans of the team move into the more difficult and more demanding midfield forward roles.

i wouldn't worry to much about moving newman and raines. i'd much rather see deledio move up the ground rather than getting a handpass to gaspar in the back pocket all the time.
he has shown that he can kick a long ball to a leading player and hit him lace out. why not use that to our strength??? its got me stuffed.

couldnt agree more. lids was drafted as a gun midfielder, not a half back flanker. he is wasted there. look at carlton for example, pagan had the balls to put marc murphey in the middle and leave him there, and the kid is a star. they have let him learn by throwing him into the deep end and its paid off.

the midfield is one of, if not, the most important aspects to a teams success. what does terry see or think that we dont?

also Polak should not be taken off the ground when tired. rest him up forward. he is playing well.

think you will find deledio played an awful lot of football at half back.

I thought both of them conceded a number of goals against the Dogs, wouldnt mind seeign Newman pushed into the midfield, he has some size and maybe an answer for us in the pivot. Raines looked to get some run back into his game and hopefully will carry on from here, easily his best game in 2007

Yeah Raines looked good early and late. He had a fairly good game.

Newy I'd like to see in the midfield. Although he did have a solid game last night aswell.

Neither should be in the forward line, I dont think.

J Bowden would be the one id be moving to the half foward line. A beautifull kick who has shown in the past he can kick em. I think he has kicked 2 bags of 5.

I dont like him in the back line, to indecisive and negative. Give him some freedom to use that beautifull left foot.

And Rainsy has only played about 24 games and its silly to rush him up foward or in the middle. In time he will slot nicely into the center like his old man.

And lids needs another preseason to realy develope his motor to be a real force in the middle. It will happen but not this year... to soon :)
