Hey there.

I'm not convinced either my Hawks or you guys will play finals this year but the first six weeks couldn't have been more pleasing for either of our mobs. The young players are really coming through, renewing a bit of hope for Victorian footy.

Alot of people talk up the Bulldogs (I think they're too soft to win a flag) but I reckon the next Victorian premiership might come from one of our two clubs. The Saints and Cats have blown their chances, lets just hope that Hawthorn and Collingwood can actually end the interstate dominance (preferably Hawthorn).;)

Jumping the gun a little aren't we? You're talking at least 2-3 years down the track before both are (possibly) up and about for the premiership. They haven't even played this year yet.

Just go easy there tiger. There's a lot of footy to be played before we can even think about talking this up.

I tend to agree with Hadders, too early to tell just yet, I mean neither of our teams should get excited about beating Essendon who were spoon contenders last year and whose great pre season move was recruit Mal Micheal!
What I think it does show is that player cohesion is a big factor, look at Dogs and Freo, especially Dogs, brought some (good) older playeres into their team and their cohesiveness has really dropped off. Young blokes have more time to devote to footy and getting to know each other, often what they lack in experience they gain in their understanding of the team ethos. Certainlythey need good staff and some experience to guide, hopefully this is what teams like Pies and Hawks can bring to the table. But honestly teams need to committ one way or the other, look at Roos, Tigers and Bombers trying to have (youth) cake and eat it too (recruit some older players) can leave a team in no mans land.

5 or 6 years ago, West Australian football was a rabble. Now it is in fantastic shape. With the cyclical nature of AFL with such policies as the draft, why wouldn't one pick these 2 teams to be in a grand final soon. Collingwood haven't had the draft picks that Hawthorn have had, but they have a secret weapon which will make Collingwoods lower picks as good as Hawthorns higher picks. So secret that if I was to tell you I'd have to kill you. That is why I have inch high private eye guarding it.
