I hear this kid is a freak and just missed the National Draft by two days age wise,my question is to the draft experts here is why isn't he eligable for the rookie draft or even the psd which is next month?.

Because thats the age it stops at and its even a tad higher for PSD and Rookie drafts which is why kids like Gaertner who was surprisingly overlooked in the draft cannot nominate for the rookie or PSD draft.

EDIT: Explained further in my post below.

I think I'll evaluate more.

To be eligable for the national draft you be 18 by April 30 next year.

Naitanui's 18th birthday is May 4. Therefore he is ineligable.

In the Rookie and PSD the age is back further, you must have turned 18 by December 31 so certainly doesnt satisfy.

THis is why players like Gaertner (Born Jan 2) who could nominate for the National Draft cannot nominate for the PSD or rookie draft and must wait until next year to nominate again. This is commonly called a "bottom-aged player".

Cotchin was a bottom aged player, wont turn 18 until April 7 next year. He was not eligable for the PSD or Rookie draft this year either, not that he needed it of course but another example.

He's a certainty to be drafted by the TANKton POOS again next year. Please be mindful that they have mastered the art of perennial 'shit kickers!'

This kid is special, will certainly go number one next year. Has everything, and a massive massive leap. Is getting better aswell and he apsolutely dominated the Champs this year.

Dan Rich will go number one next year, but Natanui will go top 5 easily.
OMg, I'm physically drained from this years draft, and already here we are talking up next years, Lets just let nature take its course, we've got a whole practice match premiership and H/A season to get through before '08 draft.:)

Didn't Carlton confirm earlier this week that if Nat was in the draft this year they would have taken him over Kreuzer. Must be a Gem.

We definitely wont get a look in. If Nat continues his outstanding form next year, will we see a repeat of questionable losses ?

If so;

How would Carlton supporters feel if they have a slow start to the year in 2008 and retain high draft selections in dubious circumstances as a result ?

Yeah dude......should be a better prospect than Stewart Dew!!!

It is nice to be in a position to take a gamble with someone like Dew. If he comes good then great. If not really doesnt matter. What a great position to be in thanks.

First time I have seen hawks new logo, Would be very disappointed if our club took RFC off our emblem. That's who we are. Now you're just the Hawks from anywhere.

Anywhere but Richmond thank you very much. Ugg what a thought. The logo is in keeping with the times. Most sides are modernising their club in all aspects. Why wouldnt you want Richmond to be proactive rather than reactive. Thats why your club is treading water.

If modernising = losing your history as the HAWTHORN hawks and becoming Tasmania's first AFL team then call me old fashioned. I would much rather barrack for a Victorian team than an interstate one. Wouldn't you? Ohh thats right your a hawks supporter, aka bandwagon supporter... as long as there is success you dont care where the team is located. You may aswell have switched to the West Coast in 06 or Brisbane during the 3 premiership run.

Sorry man, All I was saying and not trying to be :p was they're taking your identity away, you can go along with to keep up with the time as you say but I would be wondering as a Hawthorn member (as I assume you are) what Direction the League and Hawthorn board are taking you. Kangaroo's as example. If Richmond took RFC off our logo I for one would make a hell of a stink, as much as I could anyway, I might not be the one treading water to see my team play. Good Luck newbie:)

Ha! How ignorant that someone would judge a club in terms of its 'progress' by their logo. Some of the most successful clubs in world sport have the same traditional logos they have when they were formed.

And i might point out that logos usually change because they need to, meaning they aren't effective and probably stink. That is the definition of 'reactionary'.

We don't need to change, because we have a classic logo that will stand the test of time.

Let's finish last again!!! :thumbsu:
Apparently there is going to be a pretty good player available at pick 1 for at least the next five years. Lets finish last each of those years.

Sorry itsy, but you've been spending too much time on the Blues board. ;)

I think their old logo was better. The new logo looks a bit dull, but then again it is hard to make brown and gold look interesting (and that goes for on the field too.).

lmfao. I hardly go there now. Parrott makes me wanna puke. Their board is far too prudish for me.

Dan Rich will go number one next year, but Natanui will go top 5 easily.

At this stage its difficult to tell who will go number 1 next year in 2008, but he is probably the early favourite and would be my selection at this time.

Naitanui is extremely raw and is extremely athletic, his skill level is not at the samelevel though but is a eork in progress that has a major upside, IMO.

Between his background, his looks and his jaw-dropping talent, Natanui will be the most talked about 1st draft pick ever.

The scariest thing is that he's extremely raw with so much to work on (mostly things you know he'll be doing well 5yrs from now), but even what he's got now is outstanding. Moves like a big cat predator and literally hunts players down at ground level with speed, agility and strength that make you gasp, then in the ruck he makes the bigger boys wish they were 220cm tall so they could shark enough hitouts to not be thrashed.

He's out of this world and I can't wait to watch him become an AFL player wherever he ends up.

And it goes without saying that WA will be very short odds to take the championships again next year. ;)
