Yep, got a hit from David Wojcinski. Jordy Gysberts also ended up with a broken cheekbone that day as well.
We've flushed him out guys! We've found a definite Melbourne plant in our midst, masked as a Pies supporter ;). I don't think most Dees supporters would recall this detail about Viney's first round VFL game!

Yep which makes me think we may be trading out players for picks. Not sure whether we get the picks we want though
If it is as strong a draft as people are saying, picks will be expensive, particularly as most clubs took so few kids this year, so we may just go into deficit.

We currently have enough points to match a bid at Pick 5...

Hopefully one of or all of the Bulldogs, Fremantle and Adelaide fall down the ladder and give us more points.

Otherwise worst case scenario we have to trade another player for a pick worth points, or trade a future second for a pick this year...

Crows definitely will, don't have to worry about that

I didn’t watch the first quarter and only the second half of the 2nd quarter. But I did notice he has a real leadership type role in the team. Great to see.
I do think his team mates look for him a lot which might help boost his stats. I also would have liked him to lower the eyes late when he was banging them at goal from 50. His ball use is generally good but keep working on it by hitting up forwards.
Overall 40 possessions and 2.4 plus the other stats like tackles & inside 50’s is a remarkable game. But I’m looking forward to seeing his development as far as getting more contested ball and also bringing forwards into the game.
We clearly have a winner with this kid. Now it’s up to him to see what level he gets to in the AFL.
Fun times ahead with Nick and love the idea that he’ll play alongside Josh.

We still need to find close to 819 points. So we need all those clubs to drop and us not to rise or be looking at trading for a pick around the 23 mark

We can all see the apple hasn't dropped far from the tree with Nick, development is the key from this step forward. I feel we as a club have been guilty of stifling some talents with our play style and list structure.
I hope and pray he doesn't get used as a Mr. Fixit for any position problem. That's what coaches and recruiters are there for.
By all means let him play in a number of positions reasonably early to give him an idea of the requirements.
But for heaven's sake when it becomes apparent what role will best facilitate his development and assist the squad LEAVE him there.

Sorry if i misunderstood when you said:

"If we end up with pick 5 we could get two 1st rd picks, a mid 2021 pick to cover the Daicos points and a 2022 1st."

That sounds like 3x 1st round picks to me. I'm a little slow. And my bad re: confusing mid 2021 with a 2nd round (pick 20-40).

We possibly end up with pick 5 due to our crap season.

Had we not traded our first rd pick this year for a pathetic return of two 2nds, we could’ve traded that pick 5 this year for two 1st rd picks instead.

Holding onto our first to trade this year would’ve been a smarter decision, but there was a club ban on intelligent decisions last trade period.

Love it!!!! No Silvagni wil ever come close to a Daicos.
What do you expect from someone who can't spell their surname correctly?
For the last couple of decades they have been Collingwood wannabees FKIN LOLOLOL

We may not yet be on par with them with flags but I was at Princess park when they opened the very first 'corporate box'.

They sold their club's soul to the corporate leeches.

Both Poulter and McMahon look like talents that you would be happy picking up for a late 1st rounder early 2nd. So while we could have traded pick 5 for 2 later 1st rounders they are still going to be used on Daicos if in the same year. At this stage we have to bring in a pick in early-mid 20's to satisfy Daicos points and probably a pick mid 30's early 40's for Dib to not go into debt in 2022.

At this rate it’s more likely that Jack Silvagni would go to Collingwood than Nick to Carlton. There’s rumours going around that he wants out at the end of his contract because of the way they treated his Dad. I’m sure that the Daicos’ being close friends wouldn’t be impressed with his treatment either.

Yep. If we kept this year's pick, we would need to turn it into a late first rounder this year (to pay for Daicos in combination with our other picks) and a late first in 2022 that can actually be used rather than taken up by the Daicos bid. I'd much rather Poulter and McMahon with two years development than a late first rounder in 2022.

I think another option for us to increase our points is to trade down our second to multiple 3rd/4th rounds with more points value. Means we need to open up a number of list spots and take some very late picks which will be fine given we have Noble and Keane needing to be promoted to the main list.

Is there any way to stop this endless, pointless and totally irrelevant discussion on trading tactics in the Nick Daicos thread??

I know of at least one thread specifically dedicated to such discussions . . . .

Can we trade Nick Daicos for 2 late first round picks so we can grab Nick Daicos and another young gun? [emoji102]

I don't agree that we should have delayed the list refresh but there was always the potential to trade a higher pick this year for 2 later 2021 1st round picks (1 to be used on Daicos), the other on another kid. There was also the potential to trade it for 1x 2021 later pick and 1x 2022 1st round pick, or even 2x 2022 picks. No guarantee that we'd find more promising prospects than Poulter and McMahon and we'd effectively just defer the list refresh by 12-24 months.
