I was considering starting this on the main board but thought it might end in tears, but how good was Nicky Dal tonight? Riewoldt was our best IMO, but Dal as well when the game was there to be won lifted with class touches and a couple of beautiful goals.

We've heard it all from the BigFooty 'brains trust' this year, he's soft, overrated, gets cheap possessions, shirks contests etc. etc. but tonight we saw the real Dal Santo again and hopefully some opposition supporters will think better in the future about writing off class players.

A lot of us, myself included, were critical of his and Milne's dropping but since then them individually and us as a team haven't put a foot wrong culminating in this win with Dal Santo's outstanding performance and it's looking like this could have been a very good move from Lyon

He was brilliant.

As good a game played by any midfielder in the comp this year.

Not only did he have the ball on a string but he ran and chased as hard as he ever has.

If he played to that standard every week he'd be rated in the same class as Judd & Ablett. Let's hope we see Nick play a game like that in finals.

Was always going to be unrest from the supporters about that but has proved to be a masterstroke and has really made the players realize no one is safe. But tonight he was absolutely awesome. When he is playing in that sort of form, gee, it's good.

Terrific game from Dal, best i've seen him since '06. Anyway this morning there was a section in the herald sun and Dal is trade bait at the end of the season. If we do trade Dal Santo, we will go and tear the place down. Agreed Saints?

Was awesome. White hot form. Can he keep it up for the rest of the year?

Luke Ball was very importaint early in holding St.kilda up in the midfield. You can sometimes forget when you have a midfield bonanza in the second half.

Lukey Ball is always important. He doesn't get noticed all that much because he's one of those in and under types. The runners like Dal wouldn't be getting 30 touches if it wasn't for Ball getting that handball out in the bottom of a pack. Very underrated player is Luke Ball

His two goals went through the eye of the needle. Couldn't kick 'em any straighter.

Did well under pressure with the set shot.

Anyone notice the circus act by the boundary umpire?

Actually spoke to Dal as he was lining up (WTF?), then ran past as he walked in, did a ridiculous jig and some back pedalling.

Would have been hilarious (not) if Dal had of noticed that and shanked it.

Can these people please get real. There was no benefit in the umpire running down there - none at all - and yet he had the maximum possible impact without doing the almost footy legends and smothering the kick.

From Fish called Wanda "those umpires make me mmmmaaa .... mmmaa ... make me mmm mmmuu ... muh muh mmmaaa .... aarrgghhhhh "

Watching him play like that just makes you more frustrated that he doesn't do it every week :(

Sensational game from Dal and for mine was touch better than Riewoldt, Sewell was merely a distraction for Dal, smashed him in everyway possibile.

Dal Santo is a great player but hes been the target for the league's taggers this season. I watched the game and saw how he is improving in tackling pressure, it's an important part of his play because if he develops that area of his game, I believe he can be one of the best in the competition

Also terrific to see Dal handle a tag as well. Normally he'd get shut down and lose confidence. Still i would like to see Dal have a heavier influence when we're struggling tho. 13 touches came from the 3rd quarter when we were owning, like to see that 13 touches racked up when we're having a tough time of it. Still his defensive pressure definitely has improved of late. If he's been improving this much all these years he would be in the elite bracket right now.

Now hang on a sec. Dals been very ordinary up until last week (to his standards). I agree he played an elite game, but it just shows what he's capable of. He has to back it up! From what I read here your all very easily pleased. I dont wanna bring the mood down but the years almost over and there were 15 rounds played we needed him to be playing like he did last week. He's not a rookie. You wanna see passion and heart. Just watch Lenny and Roo and Harvey. Week in week out.
Sorry but he hasnt won my heart just yet.
