Anyone else shocked by this? Last I heard of him he was playing for Balmain and looking to sue the Swans for unpaid wages. From the outside it looked like it wasn't a happy split when he left the club. Now he's back working with Roosy.

I think it's great because he was integral in the 05 flag (and that's an understatement).

Anyone know what the deal is here?

This has been common knowledge for a while. Regarding the messy split, remember Davis saying something along the lines of "It wasn't ideal, but it's probably better that it happened when it did, if I'd stuck around a year longer it might have been unsalvageable".

I for one think it's great. Probably the most natural and sound kick of the footy I've seen in the red and white. If he can teach the Academy kids how to kick, we might have 15 year olds with better ball use than the seniors!

This was announced last year. I haven't heard the bit about unpaid wages, I would be surprised if that was the case. Actually, I vaguely recall something about the dispute about the rehabilitation to the last injury (knee?) he suffered while playing for the reserves.

Yeah grim, that's probably what I'm thinking of.

Great minds think alike as i was thinking exactly the same thing. It is so important to teach kids the correct kicking technique at a young age because by the time they reach the AFL their kicking technique is pretty much set. There are very few people i would prefer to teach the academy players how to kick than Nick Davis (though Stewart Dew would also be great and he is also on the Swans payroll at the moment).

Was thinking his purpose at the academy might have been to talk to the kids about the hard work and dedication needed to be a footballer. He could probably end with something like "So boys listen to what I have said and done and do the opposite."
Cheers for the 4 goals in the semi though Nick, much appreciated.
