Thought you loved the MCG "davo" once again did nothing for such a "champion" player.

Either find him another role or we are stuck with this dud for another 3 years. Any chance of trade bait?

He wasn't a standout but his snapping for goal really lifted the Swans... for a while before the Pies just kicked 3 goals in a row.

I will never forget what he did for us in the 2005 semi-final. He's just lazy at times.

He was lazy again tonight. I can't keep hoping for Nick Davis of 2005. He just doesn't deliver and when played on smaller defender he does ok but just fades out a lot more in games than he should.

The game that you're talking about in 2005, he did nothing for 3 quarters. In fact his opponent kicked two goals by running off him.

That's Nick Davis,,,,,,,take him or leave him.

His kicking for goal kept us in the game tonight. They should have buried us by half time.

We've had a good run. Now go easy on the champs.:thumbsu:

its not Davis fault...if the delivery inside 50 was poor there;s nothing a forward can do, especially when the ball comes in so slow.

costly mistakes at crucial times was our downfall

Does he remind anyone else of Dale Lewis?

Lewie used to show flashes of brilliance that would make you think he could one day become one of the elite players in the comp but then the next week he would just seem to go about the game half-hearted and lazy.

He was blessed with natural talent but never quite had the drive and ambition to reach the next level.

"at times"...heh heh...yeah, but really only once a year....from march to september

If only the Swans could clone and then transplate the hearts of Paul Kelly and Brett Kirk into all Swans players then we would have one serious unbeatable team.

Totally agree Davis had a good contest with Clement it was about 60-40 Davis's way in one on one contests the simple thing was the useless backline (Barry, Bevan, Malceski and yes even LRT) bringing the ball out so slow every time. When were lucky enough to chip it up past the centre the pies had numbers back covering Hall, Davis, ROK & Micky O'. The only times we looked like scoring was when Goodes won a clearence from middle or on the wings. The way we bring the ball out of the backline was atrosious the same as it was against them last time.

Nick Davis basically spends the majority of games playing in the hardest position to get your hands on the footy in a forward line. Hanging around as the third or even 4th marking option - often in the pockets - and he's still managed to get 33 goals (many of them from long distance or from extremely hard angles). But when he marks it anywhere inside 55m he's a chance for goal, and you just can't click you fingers and create that sort of talent in a player. 2 goals was a good return considering the chances we produced for him.

We all saw what he can do when we lift his profile - up to 1st or second option in Hall's absence the other day, where he basically cracked the Hawks for us superbly.

And I disagree that Davo is lazy at all these days. He works extremely hard for us around forward line stoppages and roves a lot of goals for us there. And we have used him a lot off the bench through the midfield at times during the year where he runs those high leads that sometimes even end up with him in defence for short bursts (similar to ROK's role). But the matchups weren't right for us against the Pies (something we'll have to fix to break their hoodoo over us).

Very happy with him since he rediscovered his focus last year. :thumbsu:

Spot on:thumbsu: Davo is a rare talent which we need. For next season the coaching staff have to work on getting better quality delivery to the forward line.
