Give him the Gavin Brown Award now. This kid has produced a 2006 highlights package of promoting the game I reckon. He is courageous and a genuine footballer who does the right things and is a team player. Was unlucky not to win the ANZAC Medal today. Also a chance for a top 5 position in the Copeland.

1 Word - Star

Very good effort today by Maxwell, he always backs himself and never hesitates when going for the ball. I think he is going to be one of those "underrated" players, but who cares as long as he keeps performing.

Future core backline..

Nick Maxwell
Harry O'brien
Danny Stanly

GO PIES!

maxwell looks the goods

h.shaw looks the goods

get nervous when harry o'brien gets the ball as he fumbles it a bit, but he is rarely beaten on a lead for pace & wins enough of his own ball

add a genuine stopper of big key forwards in presti

the best all round defender in the game jimmy clement

a decent stopper of small forwards in tarkyn

a pretty decent backline, with back-up from wakelin, j.cloke too

Maxwell looks calm, cool and composed when he has the pill in his hands. Ability like that doesn't appear overnight.

The mark he took running back with the flight of the ball took tremendous courage. A lot players would have backed out, but Maxwell (literally) through himself at the ball.

I am very rapt with the way Maxy has been playing. He has been a very good acquisition since coming off the rookie list.

Onya Nick! :thumbsu:

I love watching nick play. The kid has heart.

Also, i think leaving wakelin out for harry worked well, as harry's pace was quite valuable at times.

Another terrific game from Maxwell. Getting better and better every week. Cool, calm and collected! It was also great work from Heath Shaw, blocking his opponent and calling Maxwell back which allowed him to take that courageous mark. Could say it nearly won us the match.

Yeah true, but the kid has what alot of footy players lack, a heart and he oozes courage.

I'd like to see him on a true star fwd before i call him a star.
While it's only pre-season, he dominated Riewoldt in the NAB Cup - I'd like to see him given the job again when we play St Kilda.

Reminds me a bit of Hudgton actually. I think it took him a while before he started playing on the bigger KPP.

Pretty good assessment, Jabso.

I think he is capable of playing KP down the track.

Really loving our back line at the moment.
The fact we can afford to leave wakelin out and still be very solid at the back says it all.

Great comparison Jabso, because it is so true. They are both the same sort of players. Love to play the game and play it with passion therefore show courage on the defensive line. Both valuable members to the side, whether they perform or not, their are always 1%er positives there. Both slow starters but are long-term players.
