I think it's on for sure.

We need more talent in the midfield, and we need more space to developing our inexperienced tall forwards... a win-win.
Sure hope so.
He'd be great out there and give others opportunities in the fwd line.

Seeing how the great man will be celebrating his 300th game this year, I thought I would make this into a GIF and post it in here.

It's pretty amazing to think that this mark was taken 12 years ago...
We are truly blessed, won't know how good we had it till he retires :(

Not sure Milne remembers it fondly. In fact, I'm not sure he remembers it at all!

How are the over 30's travelling? Not too badly by the looks of it...

The 33-year-old (he turns 34 in October), five-time All-Australian said he still had a burning passion for the role and was excited about what this playing group could produce.

“I am extremely proud to be selected as Captain and can’t wait to lead this exciting, young list – this group has the potential to become something special,” he said.

“I had a good post-season break to refresh and spent a lot of time thinking about whether I was still the right person for the role. I also spoke to Richo about what was best for the team. In the end, I knew I still had the passion and my teammates wanted me there so I couldn’t be happier or more excited.”

Since Tapatalk updated, it now activates animated gifs in the thread list. Every time I see this thread, it now has Roo's running mark against Sydney. Glorious.

Just came across an article Roo has written about leadership for ESPN which some of you might enjoy.

No huge revelations or anything like that but it shows you a bit about his leadership philosophies.

Interestingly enough the part I found most interesting was actually about Jack Steven

Nick Riewoldt said:
Jack Steven is that addition. Jack is a young guy who's really influential among our group; and given the need to promote leadership we thought it was really important to get him in the group. He's one of our best players, he's a significant character in the playing group, and he has a desire and a want to really improve his leadership qualities.

Does Jack have the potential to be Saints' captain in the future? Given his level of influence on the group, absolutely. He's a quiet guy, he's a little bit more reserved, and those are the challenges that he'll face as a young player, to be able to challenge within the group, to be able to hold others to the same standards that he's set, but it's great that he has the appetite. For the leadership group to be successful, it's important to have a mix of personalities. There are different strengths and weaknesses within the group; there's a different demographic within the playing group as far age goes, background, how players relate to other players, so it's important to have a really good cross-section.

It really seems like they are sort of demanding that Steven take that next step, it is something that the Geelong group did in their early days of their dominant era and I hope Steven steps up to the challenge. Roo has been a superstar for so long, and if dragging someone like Steven to his level is something he can add to his legacy before he retires it would be another achievement for a clubman already destined for hall of fame status.

Nick Riewoldt did well just to get out on the pitch this week, but considering it was the 250th of his great mate, not to mention his 200th game as the captain of the St Kilda Football Club, he was never any real chance of missing selection.

Only manager to get his hands on the footy 10 times today, but was relatively efficient to come away with 2 goals for the match.

Will be interesting to see how McCartin's inclusion influences his role.

What a shame it was to see our fearless leader get let down by such an inept performance on his big night.

Rooey himself turned back the clock with a vintage performance (albeit it marred by a couple of uncharacteristic clangers), finding the ball 22 times and taking 14 marks along with it.

Let's hope game 301 provides a better result for the great man.

The big man is in some great form at the moment, it is such a shame that another concussion ended his day early on Saturday as he was BOG until half time in my opinion with 11 possies, 7 marks and 2 goals. Would have loved to have seen his numbers if he got to take part in the feast that occurred in the second half.

Good news is that he is expected to be back next week for the Hawks game, but to be honest, unless the doctors are 100% confident I hope they give him another weeks rest.

Rooey had another great game on the weekend and is looking very comfortable in his new role, pretty much playing the way we hoped that he would.

If he keeps this up I wouldn't be surprised to see him snag another All Australian selection.

23 Possies, 12 Marks and 2 goals, his last three weeks have been very consistent (the Collingwood game was set to be his best of the season before getting knocked out)... fingers crossed the great man can keep it up.

Round 5 saw Rooey put in another great performance and was without a doubt the best saint on the field.

4 goals this week has shown that his new role isn't going to stop him from hitting the scoreboard.
