Whats the deal with Nick Smith? Was a highly rated underage player, SA captain I think, future CHB. I remember reading hes had some injury troubles. How was his form this year? Is he going to make it?

With Gilham wanting to go back to Melbourne would a trade of him for Nick Smith be suitable or is Nick Smith a lost cause?

After 3 seasons he still can't hold down a spot in the Sandy seniors. Of course injuries are somewhat to blame for this, but even when fully fit he never really stands out. Even the likes of Matthew Bate and Lynden Dunn have shown more than him, and they've only been around for 12 months.

Lost cause, you can have him.

Hes got one more year to prove himself, one more bad injury and that would be it for him.

Has a nice kicking action and mark. Think he will have another year and should he get a strong preseason behind him, could really go on with it. Melbourne is famous for writing of young potential players too early. Hope he does come through for us. I see bate as more of an onballer, Dunn hasn't seen much senior time for Sandy either so I couldn't predict him. As for Nick Smith, knee surgery robbed him of most of the year.

I'd do a trade for Gilham - has he done anything with you guys since being drafted?

Smith, bottom line, has done sweet FA for us. Yeah, he's been injured, but hasn't shown much when he's been fit anyway.

He can mark, he can kick, but he can't get on the field.
A million injuries have also robbed him of whatever pace he once had.
I'd trade him, but you better be willing to fork out a lot of money for cotton wool if you take him, or else you will keep seeing "Nick Smith- knee- 4-6 weeks".
