Nick Stevens Considers Future

I just heard on SEN that he will be told tommorow that his services next won't be required next year at Carlton ..

That's a pretty shitty way to treat a loyal club servant and good player for the club over several years IMHO, but still I can sorta understand the logic after getting Mclean, but geez, I just am going to throw up at all the vultures here who will celebrate Stevo's demise ..

Thank you for everything Stevo, and I do hope you can find another club next year and if not, good luck with ur landscaping business (which is thriving)

I'll miss the no.24 I have to admit.

Maybe the McLean transfer has shacked his cage?

If he's considering retirement then all the best to Stevo. Came to the club at a very difficult time when he was our only really decent midfielder, so would've copped tagging from the opposition BIG time.

Has great skills and has played some great games for the Blues

If he wants out to another club then all the best also - probably because of age and the emergence of Gibbs & Murph he probably doesn't see much future there. If he wants out, then the club should facilitate that while also trying to get the best out of a trade.

I have no problem with players wanting to leave clubs - clubs shaft players when it suits them and these guys have devoted their life to a career that's often over before 30, so fair enough to any player trying to financially maximise their careers

I feel both excited (at getting Mclean) and gutted (the club basically sacing Stevens)

Have always wanted to quote my own post

- but seems the club are going to delist him.

- anyway, all the best to Stevo, over the entirety of his Blues career he's been a great servant

If this rumour is true, I will never ever have faith in the Carlton board members and bosses. If we were going to get rid of Stevens you'd think we would be atleast trying to trade him and get SOMETHING out of it, I mean he would be worth atleast something.

Really disappointed. REALLY disappointed!

I can understand the club figuring Nick isn't in their grand scheme, and he's obviously not done everything he could to stay in favour this year. However, I think he deserves to be given time to announce his retirement rather than just get the chop.

Delisted or up for trade?

Have to be trade wouldn't it.

is basically no longer required. Apparrently he is considering retirement, if he continues to play on, then may try and get a trade for him. Wont be worth much though.

I hope Stevo plays next year. He gets used as a whipping boy, but he is the polish that we need to be a premiership contender. How would an opposition side shut down our whole midfield (now with McLean in it) if Stevo was in it? He would be back to his very best

Wow, hope it's not true but alot of people on here seem to think it's a certainty.

I reckon he was/is a great player and am honestly shocked that we would delist him.
Maybe I was watching him with some really navy blue tinted glasses.

Served the club very well in our worst years and if he was to go, I would hope it's of his own accord.

You would have to think that there is ongoing problem with his neck for him to retire, otherwise the club would be trying to trade for a low level pick or player.

With mooted swap of Pick 11 for Brock McLean, it really looks like the Blues are going to be on the front foot in the off season. :thumbsu:
