He'll sit somewhere from about 25-30 on our list by the end of the season imo. He'll get games when we have injuries but as soon as Crozier, Blakely, Weller etc get chances to show us what they've got they'll be hard to dislodge I reckon. Suban has form on the board of being inconsistent, playing one or two blinders a year mixed in amongst a pile of crap like last night. He's depth. Useful to have on our list but not exactly what you want for a best 22 player.

Have to agree with the Never.

Lack of a right foot stuffed 2 forward entries last night, one promising one on the southern side in the last quarter especially critical. The new, quicker, HTB interpretation will probably stuff him as well after he fixed that a bit last year. It would be excusable if he was able to affect more contests, because he would have more opportunities to redeem himself (see Sheridan's game).

Get rid of.

I used to be quite the suban fangirl a few years back, but I do think our list has grown & flourished while he hasn't. The new rules don't suit his play and he really was a liability last night. There's no point in having a guy doing an average tag job, and then turning the ball over in a heartbeat. There's too many players on the list knocking on the door of the 22 that could've done a better job in yesterdays game.
It'll be frustrating for him that he's getting caught on so many HTB calls, but being in the main squad is not the place to fix his gameplan. The best thing for him is to go back to Peel and spend some time working on it.

I'd say he's as good as he is going to get and I really don't think he's best 22 with everyone fit.

Here's a bold prediction tho- I think he will play more games than the combined total of all the 1st-3rd yr players this year.

Unfortunately he is a pet of Ross and will play more often than not.

To me it seems MTB is out of favour! No idea why? as I rather have him in the team than Suban who constantly costs us momentum with his stuff ups.

If Lyon can't get the best out of Suban I doubt many other coaches could.

Maybe this is already the best he's capable of. He's worked pretty hard on his fitness these past two preseasons and he still struggles to get his hands on the ball enough.

As Suban's buddy this year, I wish I could defend him more strongly than I will here, but I have to agree with most of the criticism going on. I hope he gets a chance to show more of the form he showed in some of the early intra club scratch matches. I just re-watched the game on the tv after being there the other night, and I noticed how vocal he was and how often he would be one of the first in to congratulate and gee up his team mates when they had done something good.
I reckon he'll play a fair few more games this season, but it is great that we have such good depth in the team now that we don't necessarily need to field Suban. I could think of much worse predicaments to be in.
Wet weather might be his saviour.

beautiful left boot on him. Just needs to find a bit more of it in space. We need these type of kicks. The kicking against Port was pretty poor compared to that of Hawthorn. Kicking the footy and hitting targets is probably one of the most important factors in winning this running game.

Until he can start finding it 25+ times a game he is a liability in the midfield. Gives away too many free kicks and let's his opponent off the chain too often.

Never going to happen though, he's reached his ceiling time to trade or delist

Subans contracted til 2017, not a smart move from the club. He's decent depth, but that's a much too comfy contract length for my liking.
