I am horribly biased because I reckon the Tigers have landed a real gem.
So for the broader populus... who would you prefer as a first year player in your team?

Jaeger is the best young player in the AFL, and comfortably at that. We haven't seen Daniher though so I am haste fully saying that.

Vlaus is good but jaeger is the next dominant midfielder of the comp and was born to win brownlows. Bomb in a canter

Both going to be superstars imo. Jaeger has been better but looks to dominate prominently in the midfield, while Vlaustin looks more damaging in the forward half. Early days and I'm only judging from 10 and 6 games.

See this is good... a poll that I expect that O'Meara will win and fair enough too... he has impeccable pedigree and has started with a bang!
However, not even the most die-hard Tiger nut would have predicted the maturity and quality that Vlastuin has displayed in his first half-dozen games....

You're not wrong, the tigers have landed a gem.

but not nearly as good as Jaeger.

Unlike a lot of other young guys who start off with a bang but then plateau out, I just have a feeling about young Jaeger that he's going go be a multipile Brownlow medal-winning out and out gun of the competition.

Yeah but it was a situation where GC & GWS were able to just trade with each other, Jeager should have never been allocated as trade bait for GWS, suns were always going to have the first live pick. No one else got a look in and it wasn't the intention of those mini drafts, they were meant to trade for experienced players

Both great talents.

My impression is that Jaeger's ceiling is higher than that of vlas, but Vlastuin will reach his peak quicker and stay at that consistent level for many many years.

That being said given the choice i'd take jaeger and wouldnt look back

I think this one is a little unfair on Vlastuin. Has shown himself to be a real talent but he's a rung below Jaeger who looks every bit an absolute star.

agree with this, not necessarily because he's a top 3 talent, but he'd compliment them so well.

really not a fan of gws' drafting this year.

O'Meara for sure, was always going to happen. Best first year player in a while.

Vlastuin is a gun and will be a superstar, wouldn't change anything.

Daniher...... nor.

But Vlas is a brilliant player, just a rung below like what many posters think.

O'Meara, by the length of the straight.
He has had the advantage of a year in the AFL system though.
Really rated Vlastuin before the draft and was hoping he'd slip through to the Dogs at some stage. Glad he ended up at Richmond though, he'll do well under Damien Hardwick.

O'Meara easily.

I love Vlas but I think his ceiling is in the Brad Sewell/Luke Ball mould. Whereas O'Meara has the potential to reach an Ablett type stratosphere which is scary.

A much better comparison is Wines vs. Vlastuin.

Not a bad comparison, but from the little we've seen so far, I'd say Vlastuin could potentially be a more damaging player than these two. Whether he can bring the level of workrate and intensity Sewell and Ball do every single week is another matter though.

Another poll in which the answer is clear to most, but it in no way diminishes how good the "loser" is. The Tigers would be extremely happy they landed Vlastuin and he'll be around a long time. But O'Meara is something else.
