Not sure if your trolling, because you have based your opinion on Wines on one contest. The commentators said that many times during the first 6 weeks of the year about Wines. Wines is a gun
Wines is a gun, but im going on how they look now. And Vlastuin looks better. In fact he would be the best 6 game player i can remember for Richmond.

Hardwick also said prior to round 2 when asked when he will play, and he said in all his time in footy as a player, assistant and senior coch he has never seen a more complete ready to go player as Vlastuin. Six games after his debut Hardwick is right on the money.

I'm done here, it's just going to go on and on and on. the facts are Wines has played better through out the season, and has played more good games. Vlastuin recent form is better than Wines recent form.

It's natural for supporters to think their teams young gun player is better than another so don't worry

Vlastuin seems like that type of player who will reach his ceiling quickly IMO, he may not become any better then he is now for example, a Brad Sewell type

This makes no sense Sewell was a rookie listed player and improved his game little by little.
Vlaustin a very good player already - O'Meara just.
Both clubs would be very excited.

Vlastuin is a lot more damaging than Brad Sewell. I don't quite understand that comparision. If anything Vlastuin has shown great outside work so far in his 6 games and solid inside work. Whereas Sewell is very good inside the contest but you don't want him getting the ball on the outside. Vlastuin reminds me a lot more of Jimmy Bartel.

That classic BigFooty train of thought just because a young rookie has a great start they have limited upside always makes me laugh. May not become any better than he is now? Fair dinkum.

O'Meara, by the length of the straight.
He has had the advantage of a year in the AFL system though.
Really rated Vlastuin before the draft and was hoping he'd slip through to the Dogs at some stage. Glad he ended up at Richmond though, he'll do well under Damien Hardwick.

Was he ever considered at either pick 5 or 6 for you guys? Or do you mean slip to say your third pick?

It's funny, at the time, I was hugely keen on Wines (who I still rate highly) but was sad to see him get to Port. I was a bit underwhelmed with Vlastuin on what I'd heard - sounded a bit like Conca and Ellis before him, good solid young player without any massive wraps on his game. Having seen the trio of Vlastuin, Ellis and Conca this year just fills me with confidence that we really have been starting to nail our first picks consistently after some blunders in the past.

O'Meara easily.

I love Vlas but I think his ceiling is in the Brad Sewell/Luke Ball mould. Whereas O'Meara has the potential to reach an Ablett type stratosphere which is scary.

A much better comparison is Wines vs. Vlastuin.

Agreed - Wines and Vlastuin would have been a better comparison IMO.

I'd take Jaeger in a heartbeat if he was on offer but still very happy to have Vlastuin in yellow and black.

I wonder if Vlastuin or even Mitchell can win the RS this year or if O'Meara (having played more games) will run away with it.

Wouldn't mind too much if he was playing at his ceiling already, a very handy contributor to the team and if he keeps playing to his current form/output, he'd hold his spot in the best 22.

To be honest though, whilst some ridiculed our picks of Conca and Vlastuin saying there was some real quality players still left on the board, I'd rather do what the club has done now. Selecting players who have great character, and will be solid 200+ gamers given our history of failed first round draft picks.

Although O'Meara will street this poll in & fair enough too, the comparison is still valid. (As is the introduction of Wines into the discussion as well as Mitchell though he is older)

Isolate the last 6 weeks of output for the first 3 and it is pretty line ball.

Yep, happy with that approach taken by the club too Grock. Have always had the belief that to help drag us out of the mire we've been in, we not only needed skilled players but also strong characters to help create a better culture and the right attitude. Big fan of FJ's work lately :thumbsu:

Was 2012/13 Mitchells first or second preseason?

Well, given he was at the club after the 2011 draft I'd say it was his second from an administrative perspective. He spent most of last year off his feet due to ongoing injuries and played a few quarters total in the reserves. I'm not really bothered about getting into a pissing comp about which young players are better with a Richmond fan, the amusement of car crashes got old a while ago.

Whats your problem? I only asked a question.

I don't think we considered him at 5 or 6, because we were after Ollie Wines as well. I agree, it was sad that he was shipped off to Port Adelaide.
Yeah, Vlastuin was a bit underrated, most just pigeon-holed him as a workhorse when in reality he's quite talented and would fit in nicely to any midfield - he can hurt you both ways.
I didn't really rate Ellis seeing him last year, but boy, hasn't he stepped up. He could play a mid-size role anywhere on the ground.
