Poor ol` Trent .... losing his relevence .

so 90`s

gone from the Tool-like morph rate of an album every 4-5 year to 4 in as many (or the like)... largely unheralded except to the loyal and the faithfull ... no more "Fragile" like adulation

announces that they are about to pretty much calling it a day for an extended time after these shows... and fair enough.

Strips back the line up to him and three others.

..................and

Comes out with one of the best shows i have seen in this f..kin lifetime ...

I am a veteran of live music for 25 years now and that show @ Festering Hall last week was just sublime ..... instead of the technology and the bleeps and 6-7 on stage stumbling around crashing into each other they cut one of the tightest sets imaginable ... the drummer ... his name escapes me ... 20 years old ... friggin metronome ... energy . Robin Finke was born to play Trents music .

Anyone else catch them ?

Trent re-birthed it as a true band and not the circus sideshow it can be at times ... the energy and chemistry was amazing .

Hats off Trent ... and i hope these shows make you re-consider because i know i have ... this industry needs you

Saw them at Festival Hall and at Soundwave in Melbourne, both shows were just ****ing brilliant. Newer stuff was quite good, but the older stuff like Wish, Suck, Gave Up, Head Like A Hole, MOTP, just so much raw energy...

Whether Trent's music is losing it's relevance or not, I don't know, but his role as a well known music personality campaigning against the RIAA and the major record labels and his championing of modern file sharing methods will form a large part of his legacy in years to come. So, whilst he may not be jumping around on Rove or whatever criteria relevance in music is decided on these days, as it stands, I'd say he is more relevant then most of the muppets in the music industry at the moment...

Ilan Rubin is the current tour drummer btw...

I saw NIN at both Festival Hall and Soundwave. Raw, intense live shows. In a word, awesome. Trent had so much energy, particularly for the real fans at Festival Hall. The new music sounded pretty great live too.

I have so much respect for Trent Reznor and what he has done over the past 20 years. I love the way he has rewarded his fans with new technology, he really is a tech head!
- Beside You In Time live blu-ray and HD-DVD discs before most people even knew what HD was
- Ghosts and the Slip free for download in not just crappy MP3 format but in HD lossless audio too
- A special Christmas gift of a massive 200Gig of HD live footage from the Lights over North America tour on the website for free download
- And recently onstage HD videos of the tour of Australia free for download

Trent you are the boy!

The festival hall show was in a lot of ways a "wake" ... Trent has generally resisted "best of" sets but this was a true goodbye ... his sentiment and good nature were testimony to that .

easily the most i have seen him enjoy himself onstage .

I just hope this is not the last we see of him .... i have watched "Burn" from the melbourne show everyday since the gig and it still gives me a hard on and goosebumps

I haven't stopped listening to NIN since last week. Truly amazing gig, loved every second.

Although I recommend watching this in HD. Stunning stuff. And I can see myself in it. :D

Were second only to AIC for awesomeness at Soundwave in my opinion. Tight, hard, mesmorising. Worth the money and more just for those two.

Trent was on fire for this Melbourne Soundwave set. The last time that I saw NIN was at The Metro in '07.. the night that he stormed off the stage during the middle of Hurt. As much as I love Trent and his music, it left a really bitter taste.. which was totally forgotten at Soundwave.
I got to hear 'Terrible Lie' for the first time live as well.. my eyes started welling up. What an amazing set.

I am the biggest AIC fan in the land friend ... and this is totally subjective .. but i went to both sideshows in melb and NIN walloped them ... as good as AIC were (anything had to be better than 93) .... NIN were in a league of thier own ..

I hope my man Oxx reads this because he will L his AO ... but it just was not quite AIC without Llayne . as much as tried and i truely wanted it to be ... it just wasn`t

was a great show up here in sydney - even if the power did go out for 40 minutes ha!

not sold on robin finke though - he puts on a good show but he seems kinda sloppy to me (which I think is his style, rather than a lack of technique).
he certainly looks the part, but I preferred the previous touring version which was a bit more clinical and hi-tech.

having said that, seeing a 'looser' nin on this tour was something of a treat.

anyway, their show at alternative nation (95?) is unlikely to ever be beaten anyway so it's all a moot point.
:)

I saw them in Perth and enjoyed the stripped back line up and lighting, they only seemed to have one technical glitch, and Trent seemed to take it all in his stride. No hissy fits, guitar hurling and pitching keyboards over like in the last tour (though I did enjoy all of that too).

I'm still not sure about some of the new material, but they didn't overdo it in that regard, so overall it was a well balanced set, and they did "something I can never have", a long time fave of mine, so I went away pretty happy.

It's great they came to Perth this time too, first time since the 2000 BDO, so to see 'em without having to fly east was a real bonus.
