there has got to be some irony in that the one year we actually make the finals, apparently, 9th would have got you there

Yea like every year a club gets their points stripped, I don't see any irony at allthere has got to be some irony in that the one year we actually make the finals, apparently, 9th would have got you there
Not if we lose this week. We'll play a side that deserves their finals spot
EFAI had a dream that Richmond beat Essendon by 8 points 102-110.
But in reality, we will win by 10 goals.

A few questions - if Essendon are stripped of their points (which seems likely although who knows for sure), then the game between Essendon and Richmond at the MCG in the final round is a dead rubber?
Will Richmond need to play Essendon? Will the AFL give the four points to Richmond??
Thoughts people? Because if Essendon are stripped of their points, then win, lose or draw in the Essendon vs Richmond game in the final round.........the winners are Richmond cos the Bombers won't have their points.
I believe that Richmond will only get the points if they beat Essendon. That's what happened when the Storm lost their points a few years back. They still played all their games (and won many) but got no points.
However...............if Richmond lose against Essendon this week and the Pies beat North Melbourne. The Pies go into fifth spot, Richmond go to sixth. So the Pies would play North - week one Elimination Final and Richmond would play Port (I think, not sure?). I would rather play Port then North Melbourne, North a good side.
I wonder if Richmond know this little quirk, I assume they do and I assume they wont go out to lose the game against the Bombers, but really there are consequences for winning the game against the Bombers or losing it. I guess it all depends on who Richmond want to play week 1 of finals.

losing to Carlton has cost us a top four clash against Hawthorn. Instead we might have an elimination final against North

but then thats silly isn't it? Bombers clearly are going to be stripped of points - well by the sounds of it so so the four points should be given to Richmond. Makes no sense at all for Richmond to not get the four points, or else its four points that will go to no one and that will look silly. Mind you though if they are going to do that then they will need to give all the clubs that the Bombers beat this season and those clubs the four points as well.
So I guess the game between Essendon and Richmond isn't a dead rubber at all. It does mean something.

Using a Grant Thomasism, on any measure I firmly believe we are a better side than Carlton. I hope we play them in finals!
We don't want the points. Win and play Carlton or lose and play Port. I think I'll take Port.
