I think Rutten did Stabbie... far more than Fletcher. I mean, do they expect us to take the side seriously? Seriously?? Ridiculous selection and makes the rest of it farcical on that selection alone.

This is a fair call I suppose. Rutten has been very good this season and while I'm sure they could probably find a better AA full back, you'd think he would make the squad over Fletcher at least.

Johncock is an interesting debate, IMO the best small defeder in the comp however constantly gets over looked, not sure how many games he played this year..

Again we see some players picked on reputation

Goodes, OMG he has been poor up to the mid season break and since has had 4-5 good games however AA nomination is a joke

Fletcher, has this guy must have nude photo's of the selectors with a goat

Cooney, solid year however based on Cooney's year you could challenge that S Thompson has had just as good of a year

Pav, again very solid but IMO has not had the influence over games as per previous seasons

I think less based on previous reputation and more based on who gets seen, and when, due to fixture.

What bemuses me is Fletch gets in with 16 games but Stiffy doesn't.

I really think things like the draw, sorry FIXture, impact decisions like this. There is no way all AA selectors are seeing all games - you can argue they should but I wouldn't agree with that.

Fletcher had some cracking games on Friday night footy against big name opposition. That obviously got seen more often than Stiffy's efforts on Sunday afternoon/evenings in Adelaide.

I really do feel thats been a massive contributing factor.

This year is no different than many seasons previous and it goes all the bway back to Sheedy's time at the club, for some reason the Bombers refuse to put Fletcher on the oppositions best forward, Fletcher usually picks up the 3rd forward...

When LeCras kicked 12, Fletcher went to Lecras after he kicked his 10th goal.

When the Bombers played the lions, Hurley goes to Brown and Pears to Fev

It is like this week in week out and has been for years, Fletcher rarely goes to the oppositions best forward

This is where Truck is hard done by, he gets the opposition power forward most weeks

Its like Bassett though - he was more suited to use his ability to read the play and influence the entire defence as opposed to just beating his own man. That's how they use Fletch. It's how we use Stevens.

I'm not arguing Truck isn't hard done by but players like that can deserve AA. Bassett immediately won one when Truck came in and free'd him up for that role!

Last year Goodwin was picked on his reputation. Was not our best HB, Stiffy was, but named AA HB.

It is a point of issue with me when Fletcher is named as an AA CHB however does not play at CHB for the bombers because he plays the role that you are referring too

I don't get you guys that rate clanger king Gilbert. Most overated player in the league by miles and miles.
Couldn't be less impressed with his 2nd ranking in marks, rd 3 20 marks 19 uncontested as you will find in any mention of his games how many he took followed by "most of which were uncontested".
Cheapo possessions and clangers. Win. Gilbert would of been unhappy that everyone was getting in on his act on the weekend.

Games without johncock adelaide has had so little drive that they might as well not shown up.

Fletcher makes no frikking difference whatsoever. Jobe Watson is that team and disputing him or Mundy being there are poor calls. Apparently getting the contested ball out isn't damaging though.
Deledio though...joke of a pick. If your picking 2 players from such poor performed sides you are opening the door to everyone and yet nothing from definitely better performed sides.
Richmond and Essendon in no way deserve 2 players in there

Clearly with 3 AA players melbourne and north should be in the finals against Freo this week instead of the hawks and Carlton, Hawks obviously with players only as valuable as richmond and essendon where as carlton got all the way there riding judd apparently..

Dustin Fletcher? You have got to be kidding me? DUSTIN FLETCHER?!?!?! Just adds to the Victorian bias that the AFL has. Truck has had ten times the year Fletcher has and I would rate Truck as the third best full back this season behind Lake and Scarlett. Joke. Johncock should also be in for Enright.

From other teams, Cross and Thomas were very unlucky.

So far the only 3 teams that didn't get a player mentioned in the 40 man squad have all lost a player to the Gold Coast and are all non Victorian teams.

Does the AFL hate non Victorian clubs? Or does it just like kicking clubs while they're down?
